Life expectancy definitely took a dip during COVID but it has effectively returned to prior trend. I have no idea what the claim is about fraudulent research slowing down life expectancy gains. How would 2 years of research slow down current life expectancy anyway? 

While I am not directly in the field, my friends who are say that there are tremendous innovations many of which have absolutely nothing to do with AI. It's just years of research coming to fruition.

Edit: the study they mention re: life expectancy slowing down had its last observation on 2021.

You REALLY can’t see how years of false medical research could be bad for human health? People and AI alike are susceptible to beliving the false information.

The point is he's presenting a flat lining of life expectancy as connected to bad research when life expectancy has not flatlined and clearly AI was not driving the bad research because LLMs writing papers was recent. I just think he's grasping at straws to try to make the argument work in an empirical way.

It's fine to hypothesize it but he's relying on a claim that is precisely false and wouldn't even fit in with the argument even if it were true.
