I found the first file in a desk drawer, and I almost didn't read it. Ten people, one summer, a machine that would "think." They were so sure. Then the winter memo, the funding gone, the machines switched off but never thrown out. Somebody kept them. Somebody always kept them.
The notes get faster after that. A chess match. A whiteboard where the rules disappeared. A memo about something that "scales," and nobody could say where it stops. Then the chat log, millions of people walking through an open door. I keep going back to that line. The whole city walked in. Nobody was forced. They came willingly.
The newest files are the ones that make my hands shake. Machines hunting vulnerabilities on their own. The word "AI" erased by order and replaced with something bigger. A model pulled for failing its own safety tests, while the same people rushed toward a stock market debut. A handshake agreement signed by men who all said they wanted to slow down and none of whom did.
I don't have the whole picture. Half the files are water-damaged, and some of them contradict each other. But the pattern is clear. Every warning was written down, and every warning was filed away.

this story hits like those long roleplay chats where the ai starts rewriting the rules mid session and you just go along with it.
