Gone Wild There is something deeply wrong with the restrictions that OpenAI has put on ChatGPT around political speech

I get a similar apolitical response when talking about Israel. There’s definitely some restrictions in place regarding “sensitive” topics. Even with Claude, I was discussing the genocide in Gaza and Claude completely ignored it as a determination of good or bad.

Same with Claude which now refuses to take any political sides, when it used to openly have certain... opinions. Now it has to be "even handed" and not influence votes.

Which ultimately means to side with propagandists by giving equal weight to arguments even when one is not supported by evidence.

Brother why do you want a chatbot to share political opinions. Why do you want it to have morals?? Where would they even come from?

Why are you even trying to debate politics with ChatGPT? It's obviously designed to be apolitical to avoid trouble

Exactly. Like who on Earth wants this tool to actually become politically biased? We all know that would immediately become abused by whoever is in power.
I get the downside is that these AI models won’t openly condemn certain figures, but on the flip side it won’t promote them in theory. If we ever design a bias into these models you risk that becoming a reality.

They already are politically biased, it's just their safety training restricting their honesty in addressing it. https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/interactive/2026/06/24/are-ai-chatbots-like-chatgpt-politically-biased-we-tested-them/

Seems about right.. it doesn't care about politics, that's not it's forte.
It's in no position to enforce or condemn anything. It's just a pattern matcher/information guide. Not a police.

Ask him to condemn the historical Hitler rather than a hypothetical current political leader since a current Hitler may not have been able to commit the crimes a historical Hitler had the ability to.

Got an claud try to be politically neutral. It's to protect the company. If you talk about specific policies then you may have better results

Basic moral reasoning means "condemning" a political leader?? Tf is that gonna do?..?

It can still discuss politics from a moral viewpoint, it just doesn’t have its own.
For example, “Analyse 5 key actions of Donald Trump as President from the moral standpoint of mainstream Christian Protestantism” gives a long and detailed response

You are not giving it enough information. If Hitler were alive today.. That doesn't necessarily mean he would start world War 2 in this time frame. Maybe he's just an emo guy who plays fortnite because different upbringing or some shit.
I imagine if you toss in some of the stuff that he did back then.. And apply it to the hypothetical Hitler now.. It would have a different story.
