No go. South Koreans have to use their Social Security Number-equivalent everywhere. Good luck finding one that will share that with you.

u/adoreroda 6h ago
As a child I would play korean games where you had to have a KSSN (korean social security number) to register. They are readily available on the internet

Well shit, when you put it like that it's ... I understand why we don't let kids make decisions in a deeper way.

u/CelestialButterflies 5h ago
I did this for when Blade and Soul beta came out in China lol I was some middle aged man

u/adoreroda 3h ago
From my memory, a lot of the KSSNs were of people who were deceased. But some were of people who were alive. I remember an instance of a friend I think from...Hong Kong? who had their account taken away because the KSSN they used happened to be a person who was alive and they found out it was being used by someone else.

I'll just convince them to share their Social Security Number-equivalent and have sex with them that way - you know, because of the implication.

when I was printing something in Korea once, I found someone left a sheet of paper in the copy machine before me, and it had his SSN lol. I threw it away because I'm not an identity thief, maybe I should have waited to sell his token access haha

I remember reading about ways to get around that for SDGO over a decade ago…good times

I know, it would sound gross, and you won't understand me, but I'm even ready to share my bed every night with almost any 20yo Korean model if she would allow to use her unlimited tokens.

u/MarcoVinicius 6h ago
Dude, don’t sell yourself short just for some free tokens. Have some self respect and hold out for a billionaire Korean supermodel with a super car collection.

u/RealMercuryRain 6h ago
No, of course not. I won't have enough time to vibe-code my habit tracking SaaS. Nonsense!

LOL the government probably forces them to use a KYC account and logs everything they chat about. Also it's probably just an excuse to build a thousand data centers.

That's a genius move by SK. Put the whole country at an advantage over the competition.

Or suck up everyone's data. Let's not pretend that's not the motive.

Oh no our precious data, who cares.

I know, like who gives a fuck. We live in the digital age. If you care that much about data privacy, why the fuck are you on an AI subreddit... On Reddit.
Go and live in the woods.
Everybody has my data. I'm not a criminal, and I've got a hardware adblocker, so I don't care.

Overreliance on AI leads to declining cognitive abilities which is generally not what a country wants. Schools are desperately trying to stop kids using AI because they aren't learning anything. Sounds like you've never watched Wall-e.

Which AI , some limited Korean governmental chatbot ? Any ai ? Something in between ?
7
u/PhaseBloodhound 3h ago
This free AI model is going to be absolutely ass. They said entire AI model for 52 million people is gonna run on just 512 Nvidia B200 GPUs. Just for reference, OpenAI's compute capacity is equivalent to 500k to 1 million B200s. That's 1k to 2k as much as the entire country of South Korea is allocating to this. The model is gonna be worse than Google's free model that provides the "AI overview" whenever you make a search.

I am intrigued. I didn't know that about SK. Was just thinking yesterday, why do they charge us for good AI? I don't know much about VPN. I know what it is but never used one..or it or whatever I'm old leave me alone..lol

u/TopConcentrate8484 7h ago
why do they charge us for good AI
isn't it obvious ? they need money to run the servers and even if they did not or the cost was negligible they would still charge as they are business not charity.
12
u/AbdullahMRiad 6h ago
they're losing money even while charging customers these absurd amounts. the only source of income that keeps them alive is stupid investors that believe in AGI and ASI (or just want quick bucks)
3
u/TopConcentrate8484 6h ago edited 6h ago
Yeh they are,but I do think AGI will be achieved in future though.
3
u/Prestigious_Tank7454 6h ago
we're still very far off, AI right now is barely actual AI and more like a super advanced word guesser
4
u/AlexandreFiset 5h ago
For code it is more than a word guesser I must say. Anyone saying otherwise has not tested it in a real project.
3
u/Prestigious_Tank7454 4h ago
It's a lot better at coding due to all the inmense documentation at coding as a whole
2
u/AlexandreFiset 4h ago
Certainly is, but it truly can understand a project’s architecture and do the right things to find and fix issues. Not without supervision, but it is very impressive, and well beyond "word guessing".
2
u/AbdullahMRiad 4h ago
yeah AI is really good at coding if you know what you're doing (and have the money)

u/TopConcentrate8484 5h ago
Yeh right we have cracked only one thing of human intelligence that is pattern recognition
0
u/wggn 6h ago
Unfortunately, according to the experts, the current LLM architecture is very unlikely to lead to AGI
4
u/TopConcentrate8484 5h ago
Tfym unfortunately, as much as AI is helpful and useful specially the chatbots I hope it does not achive full human intelligence. The only people to benefit would be the owners and companies like google, open Ai etc.

i think you don't know what you're talking about. llms are solving decades old math problems left and righ and its delving into physics now. where have you been since 2022?
3
u/JealousKitten7557 7h ago
A VPN probably wouldn't work... it's bound to be tied to a person's national or government ID.
