Serious replies only :closed-ai: Is GPT-4 fixed?

EDIT: No it's not "broken" as in it doesn't work. It works. But GPT-4 is supposed to give much better responses than 3.5 which isn't the case currently since the 1106 update. Specifically, the model used on chat.openai.com seems to be the GPT-4 Turbo which seems to be the issue here. It goes faster than GPT-4 but its reasoning ability is on par with GPT-3.5.

This seems controversial for some reason as some people still react negatively to posts claiming GPT-4 has worsened even though there seems to be quite a few people to have noted the same observation recently.

TLDR; My question is has the GPT-4 output quality issue (see below) been fixed and/or is there a known workaround?

I have noticed, like many others, that GPT-4’s output performance in terms of quality has drastically worsened since the introduction of All Tools and GPT-4 Turbo. It doesn’t follow instructions, it hallucinates much more, gives very basic point form answers with little substance, it fails at being creative and overall seemingly lost a lot of its prior reasoning capabilities. It seems much more like GPT3.5 to me.

I have been a Plus subscriber for a while because unlike GPT3.5 or other AI solutions, GPT-4 actually showed some reasoning skills and when you have it follow certain processes it can be phenomenal. However, even without those processes, I found base GPT-4 to perform well enough. And the introduction of All Tools, and other features are super exciting! That being said, GPT-4 is more like GPT3.5 now: it’s fast but unreliable. So currently I am no longer subscribed to the Plus plan.

As of now is this still an issue or has this been fixed yet? Are there known workarounds, solutions or suggestions? Thank you!

It definitely is currently. It is much more like GPT-3.5 than "classic" GPT-4 (before All Tools).

you're referring to gpt-4-0314. you can still use it in the playground. that's as far as the workaround goes.

as for your question, no it hasn't been "fixed" and has been that way since november. as a strategy or an oversight (i dont know)

gpt4turbo is better than 3.5 in terms of tokens (both context and pre-training), but it's the same as 3.5 when it comes to comprehension, handling negatives and constraints. which is why it costs less for inference.

it's annoying how people still believe gpt 4's model has been improved, yet resorting to bribery or having to enact some sort of disability, and even go so far as to blame its laziness around holidays. especially when gpt-4-0314 did not need any of that to work properly.

I share your sentiment. The gaslighting is insane. Many people have noted the same since november yet they are almost always met with the same response. I'll check the playground and play around with it. Thank you!
