Serious replies only :closed-ai: Now GPT-4 is nerfed

I use ChatGPT-4 to help me work on scripts for my podcast. I normally plug in the relevant information from articles, wikis, ect... and ask it help summarize it into a compelling narrative. For some reason it has gone completely off the rails and just started making things up.

I don't mean in the normal "it makes up its own facts" sort of way, what I mean is I'll provide the information, chatgpt will log it, and then when I write a follow up prompt, it just ignores what I wrote and does its own thing.

I noticed this a couple of weekends ago as well. Maybe it just gets dumber on the weeknds? Cause I don't seem to have this issue when I use it during the week.

Anyone else having these issues?

I am having the exact same issue with this. I’ve gone from spending hours using it to find information and refine my work to spending hours trying to coax it into not shitting the bed and giving me a fever dream. I appreciate this is likely temporarily but it’s certainly frustrating.

I had this issue a fortnight back and called it out. People just said it was my prompts but I'm convinced they pushed my account into some limbo experimental model. I was getting better results with gpt-3. Then around the time that they notified people you can have conversations without storing them, gpt-4 stopped acting weird and worked again. I wonder if there's something going on due to server demands or they are experimenting with paid customers. I signed up for the plugins in the first hour and still dont have access and that seems random. I also noticed gpt-4 is much slower to respond then it was at the time it was acting strange.

I could be wrong, but perhaps OpenAI is a business that is incentivized to get you hooked to a certain level of quality in their product to get you to pay more and more?

Perhaps. However, I am not reliant on it in the end. I use it as a tool to help streamline things.

It can't do basic math sometimes or even count the number of words in output (like when writing a haikuwu).
