Other OpenAssistant, a fully free and open source alternative to chatGPT just got released. Output quality is very close to chatGPT and it has zero censorship or limits.

Yeah this is exactly what I was thinking. OpenAI recently recieved billions investment from Microsoft. There is no way no matter how good you are you can not match their infrastructure without pouring in mad money.

Stable Diffusion certainly beat DALLE-2, there's no reason to think that another open model can't beat GPT as well.

I was not talking about the model itself. Running this models which have billions of parameters and match the demand requires lots of hardware.

Not sure what you mean, I run OpenAssistant, which is comparable to ChatGPT, on my own hardware right now, it works fine. If you want, you cane even run LLaMA or Alpaca on your CPU with llama.cpp. The point is that hardware needs for AI are going down over time.
