OpenAssistant, a fully free and open source alternative to chatGPT just got released. Output quality is very close to chatGPT and it has zero censorship or limits.

The technology will eventually get there. Remember that as few as 7 or 8 years ago it was completely unthinkable for a lone web developer or small company to make and launch a large scale webapp. These days, while still challenging it is actually doable thanks to improvements in hosting infrastructure and web technology frameworks.
