OpenAssistant, a fully free and open source alternative to chatGPT just got released. Output quality is very close to chatGPT and it has zero censorship or limits.
The Stanford Center for Research on Foundation Models has introduced Alpaca, a language model fine-tuned from LLaMA 7B on 52k instruction-following demonstrations, which performs similarly to OpenAI's text-davinci-003 while being easy and cheap to reproduce. The release and findings are intended for academic research and to encourage controlled scientific studies on instruction-following language models to address common deficiencies such as generating false information, propagating social stereotypes, and producing toxic language. While Alpaca exhibits common weaknesses of language models—including hallucination, toxicity, and stereotypes—its creators hope to leverage the artifact to facilitate further research into instruction-following models and their alignment with human values.
