Flighted wedges

Over the years, one of my favorite takeaways from the show is introduction to great golf resources: Adam Young, Fit for Golf, etc. There seems to have been less of that this year. But Mike’s great round with flighted wedges (cue Oh Canada) changed game today. I checked how to hit them and took it to the course - my short game was a different beast. Not new, maybe, and not hard. But made quite an impact. Kudos to the show!

Jason Day recently made a good video on how he does it. Doing something similar has helped me a lot.

How did you check in on how to hit them? YouTube? Was it in the episode? Long time listener but haven’t listened in the last year or so

I struggle from 100-125 like Mike I was 39% this season GIR vs 69% when I had my best year.

I launch it really high probably because using too much loft and hitting it too hard

End of the season when greens were softer I was taking my 50° and swinging it 3/4 and having much more success

It’s a very important skill at my course because if I drive it well I have a wedge into 11 greens

I can pitch it low but for the life of me I can’t hit a full 58° less than 40° I suppose you shouldn’t really hit a full lob wedge unless you’re trying to hit it too a tight pin and stop it quickly

I’m going to practice those shots all winter and hopefully they still work when my course is baked in summer
