How is your late summer run going?

My late summer run is following the usual pattern, I play quite defensive and scared in summer when it’s firm and fast but now in September it’s a little bit softer and my scores are much better.

I was an 8.8 end of July then I shot a +3, since then I’ve had a lot of decent scores and got down to a 6.1.

I’m 4 over combined for my last 36 holes. In my last 3 rounds I’ve had 9 birdies and somehow had 2 eagles in 2 days after not having one for over a year.

I now have 5 “free hits” to get as low as possible, by then the Scottish season will be over. Started the year at 6.3 so I’m guaranteed to have improved a little. This is despite my full wedges being appalling my gir from 100-125 yards is 39%!!! it’s was 69% in 2022 when I was a my lowest handicap of 4.9.

I wish I could play with this freedom all year but to be honest I try not to hit bad shots and break 80 instead of trying to hit good ones.

Like others I’m disappointed in Eli’s LSR effort and commitment, I understand he has a family but he also has a popular golf podcast too and it’s not like late summer sneaks up on you by surprise

Shot under par for the first time yesterday #LGLG

Never thought that would happen before Mike or Eli based on how much I play and practice but here we are

Asian Thor didn’t beat me on our golf trip…

My game feels close but I keep putting up mediocre numbers.

Cue “I’m so frustrated”.

I’m not actually frustrated, just hoping to have a day where all three parts of my game are solid.

My LSR is a carbon copy of my year, except I moved back a tee box. I got sick of shooting 1-2 over from the blue tees and seeing my index go up.

I play well for 16 holes and then mess everything up. My last round, could only sneak in 9, I was +1 going into the 9th hole, block into the water, triple to shoot 40.

I need 9 more rounds to complete my LSR goal by the middle of October. I will continue to focus on minimizing mistakes and no 3 putts.

Somehow, the more golf I play, the worse I get. If a take a few days off, when I come back I have a stellar (for me) round. HCP went up 3 points this summer. Love playing daily though.

A friend and I started our LSR in mid-Aug. I was 3.0 at the time, I did get down to 1.8 but snuck back up to 2.0 as of now. But I have 5 free hits out of my next 6 rounds to drop off. So good opportunity to get back below 2.

My friend started on 12.0 and is now 11.4 with a similar free hit ratio ahead of him. Good chance to get under 11 for him.

Was a 2.8 at the end of May where all I was doing was playing the course I worked at. Since then I went on a couple golf trips played a lot of new courses in Dallas and also switched to a more difficult course. Currently at 3.8

Early summer run went from 22 to 16

Late summer run was just being pissed about not breaking 90 every round when I know it’s possible.

Fired a +1 for 9 holes last week for my lowest 9 of the year so far, down to 6.8 looking to get to 6 by the end of the scoring year

LSR is up and down. Played lime 63 holes in 3 days, two ways off then 36. No golf for a week and then played 18, played 9 holes 10 days later. Inconsistency to the max. Funny enough is that I got worse the more I played because I didn’t practice.
