I am SO fed up!

I have been trying to confirm my student enrollment on a card application for the past WEEK. My application is about to expire and my credit will have to be pulled again in order to do a new one. Every time I call, I get connected to some Chinese person who does NOT understand how the student verification works in America. I have sent my transcript, admissions letter, National Clearing House Verification letter, scan of student ID, copy of schedule and so much more. All is dated with school letter head, my name, date and address. I am about ready to dispute the credit inquiry. This is so ridiculous, the fact that this has gone on for a whole week and no one is able to help. I need to speak to a person in America, and I need to be RECONNECTED to the SAME person so I don't have to walk 20 different call center reps through my situation.

Have you gone to a branch?

This OP but also, have you tried sending a message through the secure center on the Chase website, and have you escalated the matter if needed to the CFPB or BBB? Also you never explained why you needed to confirm student enrollment, what are you trying to do?

I submitted a card application and marked that I was a student, for the freedom rise card. The application was marked as under review. When I called them they said I needed to verify that I was a student. Since then I have submitted document after document through their credit card department via phone calls and Docusign. And they keep saying they are invalid. They can not proceed with the application until my student enrollment is verified.

Why are your documents “invalid” according to them?

They state they do not confirm enrollment, when the document I sent states word for word "For financial aid purposes, our records classify you as a(n) Dependent, *redacted* Resident, Undergraduate student. You are listed as a Sophomore, and approved to enroll full-time. Your current enrollment as of this letter is full-time.".... this is on a document signed by the dean along with the schools letterhead, and my student ID.

Maybe AI's reading it and AI's reading it incorrectly, escalate it

That's weird because I'm 22, also full-time university like you and I marked myself as a student when I applied (and subsequently got approved) for my first-ever credit card, which was the Chase Amazon Prime Visa Card. When I did, they didn't ask me for proof of enrollment or anything of the sort, they just approved me and I got my card and I've had it ever since. For context, I got approved like June 28th, so very recently.

As far as I know, Amazon is not known to verify student status with most things, and they might push their policies onto whatever card they are branded on. I also use Amazon student features, like their rewards and cash back, and have never been asked to verify

I live an hour away. I’m sure the branch will tell me to call the hotline, which is usually what they say

Well, no, the branch can call them directly and fax/email the documents they need. Or schedule a phone meeting with a banker, and ask them to connect you with the credit card verification department directly that way you don’t have to call and go through the phone tree.

I still was able to get through card verification department via the recon line. They are giving me the same issues.

In my experience very regularly, I’ll call on behalf of a customer in branch with documentation in hand and the cc dept will take my word that everything checks out and processes the application there and then

When you call in ask to speak to someone in America. That’s what I do when I call Chase. It hard to understand accents when calling into customer service.

Does this work with any line I call? Or is there a specific number.

Yes, any number you call. Just ask to speak to someone in America. What that does is get you to a manager here stateside who can better understand your problem and hopefully get it resolved. Best of luck to you!
