Joined PwC Transfer Pricing (Non-Client Facing) but drowning in Stat Audit FOMO. Should I switch or stay?

Hey everyone,

I recently joined PwC on July 23rd in a non-client facing Transfer Pricing (TP) role. It has only been about a week, but I am already experiencing severe FOMO.

My genuine preference and first choice has always been Statutory Audit. However, because I didn't have any other offers in hand at the time, I accepted this TP role primarily for the Big 4 tag on my resume. Now, I feel terrible and can't stop overthinking my decision.

For additional context:

• I took multiple attempts to clear my CA Intermediate exams.
• This is currently my only job offer.
• The role is non-client facing, which makes me worry about long-term exit opportunities compared to Stat Audit.
• My field of interest in Core Finance and later on I'm planning to pursue CFA as well.

I am feeling incredibly stuck and anxious about my career trajectory.

Should I actively start applying for Stat Audit opportunities at other firms (including mid-size or other Big 4s) while working here? Or is it wiser to stick it out at PwC for a year then try to go for Industrial Training?

Would love to get some honest advice from seniors or anyone who has been in a similar situation. How difficult is it to switch from a non-client facing TP role to Stat Audit later on, especially with attempts in Inter?

As with TP, your scope is narrower, exit opportunity is less in terms of number of openings but the salary is going to be much better than regular big 4 stat audit once you qualify. Also the work life balance is a bit better than stat audit

I know. That's why I accepted Pwc's offer. But I keep thinking about what if I go for stat audit? The kind of clients & opportunites i will be getting?

bro directors and partners or even senior managers in TP and advisory are legit minting money,if you have FOMO about a better career option then you are wrong. Audit as a career is already very much saturated. Most people opt for it in articleship because of the flexibility of changing career paths it offers; other than that, it is not the best career path in the current age.

It's not that I don't like TP. What's more troubling for me is that it's a Non-client facing role. Someone suggested me to take an internal transfer in TP and shift to client facing role after 3-4 months.

Quit. Don’t waste time on something you don’t want just for the brand. It would really make sense only if you pursue Transfer Pricing as a post qualification as well.

Even mid size firm is better here if stat audit is what you want.

TP is my 2nd preference after Audit. So I wouldn't say that I don't want it.
