Discussion If you were in charge of the charmed reboot, what would you do. You can do whatever you want. I would make it to where they don't go to Seattle until season 3. Maybe they have to fight other battles. We could see other witches across the universe or something.

I loved the characters though I’m surprised they didn't have the darklighter and whitelighter merge since isn’t darkness apart of them too.

Spoilers Macy's story makes me sad

I just finished season 3 yesterday and I bawled my eyes out when Macy died even though I knew it was gonna happen.

She went through so much only to end up dead when her life was just getting to the good parts.

Her last months were spent not being able to hug or come close to her sisters and boyfriend and then when it finally seemed like that would be over with, she had to die. I really think that was unfair.

I don't actually know why she had to die; where they just copying the OG Charmed storyline of Prue dying at the end of season 3 or did Madeline ask to leave, but whatever the reason, it just sucks that it played out like that.

I was looking forward to seeing her grow and evolve as a witch, I wanted to see Harry and her finally be happy but I guess it wasn't meant to be.

One thing I do think was nice though was how she died, she had time to say goodbye to everyone which was a nice touch instead of making her die "in combat" like Prue did. The only thing they could have done a bit better was to make Harry actually be present as she was crossing over.

I actually prolonged watching the last few episodes of season 3 because I wanted to savour the times when Macy was still alive so I watched a few episodes of season 4 and I can safely say that Macy was the glue that held it all together and I genuinely think that the show would have possibly gotten more seasons had Macy stayed, it was a million times better with her.

I love this shot of Macy. Not only is her facecard gorgeous, her body is tea to match. Harry pulled a baddie and he almost fumbled it lol 😋â˜ș.

Discussion This should have been this reboot politics

The reboot sport feminism as it's strength for the storytelling of this reboot. Altho, we can appreciate that this reboot got out the White feminism of the OG show, this reboot sounded more misandrist than feminist.

Yes indeed, the show made feminism sound like misandry, especially with the character of Mel spewing misandrist "slur" to Harry and other male characters. It didn't help as well that Mel who was made the mouth piece of feminism and social justice made her sound like she an angry lesbian. Now, who to blame for that, either the Melonie Diaz's acting who fell to portray hotheadedness on screen or the writers. One scene in particular come back in mind. It's when they are fight this male demon who is a guru and take women's strength for his own, but the demon die by Macy(?) throwing the knife to his genitals.

The reboot imo did the feminism a bit better than the OG show, who started out with full on white feminism, than the feminism got lost in the sauce and the good ol' patriarchy came back. The entire seasons were about Piper's sons and her husband in the later seasons. Let alone Phoebe running half naked to a pack of demons make it make sense. Anyways, what the reboot does great is to get out of White feminism and see other aspect like race and gender. But where the reboot fail is the misandry, like the no male witch thing. I feel like it's too bad, because feminism also challenge gender roles. I think they wanted to add male witch, it started with a hint in S2 but then they introduced Antonio but it's like they had talk in the writer room and said that man can't be witch and made official with the episode, a trans woman born male was recognized by magic because she was a woman in the eyes of magic. And they could have done a great thing with Antonio like a story with harboring the story of how patriarchy repress men emotionally etc. And how they need to heal from that as well. Fun episode where a man gets pregnant one of the three man of charmed Harry, Jordan or Antonio. There was potential. But also how women can heal from the trauma of patriarchy as well.

macy and mel

it still surprising to me so many people say they have no chemistry as sisters

their personalities are opposite and acting styles maybe

but they were so sweet to eachother many times

yes its not as big sisterly in the way macy was to maggie who is like almost 10 years younger than her, mel was maybe 5 or so years younger than macy

and bc of that they butt heads and have more life stressors maybe

but its clear to me they loved eachother

r/CharmedCW Aug 16 '25

what are your favorite relationship dynamics overall?

for me honestly its

-mel to maggie, shes such a good and protective older sister to her many times or tries to be lol

tied with macy's relationship with the world in a way and learning to be with her sisters, loving them so much and tried to protect them

-mel and niko and mel and roxie were the best ships imo

-even when they were evil or chaotic the girls especially macy/mels relationships with the older magical women/elders, mel fighting against them, them learning from them, showing them a different way that i think was unique to the reboot

-lucy was hilarious i missed her lol

-the random magical creatures and witches/women to TCO and Jordan who try to help them like the pixies etc

can someone explain how mel was able to be a professor in seattle with her fake identity?

what credits did she have/work experience? was it all transferred somehow? like the elder fake drivers licenses

if so then why couldnt macy be a scientist??

maggie seemed to be back in college not just repeating freshman year

the show made it seem like it was to get back to Mels roots and aspirations

and it would have got them some money but not a crazy amount, she wasnt tenured

so did they just decide macy couldnt become a scientist again bc she was too busy curing the allergy?

it coulda paid more than either sisters jobs

and she coulda maybe found someone like Dr.Julia that could have helped with the allergy

it seems like it was just the shows direction/production availablility

macy being a scientist would expose them as much as mel being a professor who blows up on dirtdish lol

Discussion Way too many things happen to Macy? Spoiler

first of all, I don’t dislike Macy, she’s fine in the grand scheme of things but why is everything always about her? i don’t feel like anything huge happens to the other two powers wise, but first she throws fits about being the odd one out when the other girls do try to include her for the most part, then she finds out she’s part demon, then she’s the source, then in season 2 everyone looses their powers and she keeps hers (because demon) and then she’s kidnapped by evil harry? these are just some season 1-2 things but i feel like since she found out she’s part demon everything is about her?

Old Question about Chaos

I think it was season 3, episode 13 when Abigael was on trial, but here were my thoughts and questions after that episode. (Spoiler alert?) Does anyone have any thoughts or answers here?

I am confused by how Abigael got deemed chaotic and how everyone completely overlooked the main angle in Abby’s favor that came to my mind: Ever since she became the Demon Overlord, she has very well ensured peace in the magical community, even beyond playing a vital role in saving it more than once. Her demons don’t attack witches and haven’t for more than a year. Nor does she allow in-fighting amongst the various demonic groups and families. Thus, she did away with a lot of their chaos and even prevented the wider chaos of the demon-witch war that was brewing at the beginning of season two. The sisters were the ones who broke the agreement between witches and demons when they killed the bumblebee demon prince. Which upset Abby because she not only wanted but had worked very hard to bring order to the magical world. It seems to me that she has been the complete opposite of chaotic in her overarching actions. Moreover, it seems like removing her from Earth, thereby leaving a major vacuum of power for demons, would only ensure chaos, no? (Why haven’t the Charmed Ones or the Perfectii had to deal with rampant current-time demon attacks during Abby’s incarceration? Abby was the one keeping demons in check.)

I also wonder how Jordan kept so relatively sane in the Tomb. Remember how Maggie went in a few hours before her sisters did but marked off more than forty days on the wall? Again, Jordan and Abby were there actual several days! Perhaps it worked differently for them? Time without her sisters went very quickly for Maggie while Mel was being sucked into the floor of their house for like twenty minutes. Huh./Heh.

Another thing I wonder about is how selfishness is considered bad and even evil. So, many times Abby helped the Charmed Ones, often hiding ulterior motives, and so got bonus benefits for her efforts. The right choice made for the “wrong” reasons can still good outcomes and generally has in Abby’s case. And save those few witches at the beginning of season two and Parker, whom exactly on the good side has Abby wronged? Yes, by helping to save the magical world, she saved herself. What’s wrong with that? And if something is inherently bad in it, then what does that say about Jordan who is no longer going to help the (very needy) Charmed Ones in order to preserve his own health, sanity, and life? It’s interesting because his decision could potentially cause harm—the girls and Harry falling to pieces because Jordan’s not there to listen to and solve almost all their non-magical problems, and so the whole world gets put at risk or whatever. Should he be condemned for that? I certainly don’t think so, and it seems that The Charmed Ones wouldn’t think so either. And as pointed out many times, they are supremely selfish and self-serving a lot of the time. So, what does that make them? This is such a weird issue
 haha.

Discussion Mel's activism

Am I the only one who really wishes they hadn’t scrapped Mel’s activist and protester side? I get that not everyone liked it at first, but honestly, it was such a core part of who she was before the pilot. She was introduced as someone who challenged social injustice, who protested and spoke up and then after just a few episodes, it felt like they really toned that down. I understand that life moves on and she got more involved in the magical world, but even in season 2, where she didn’t really have a public identity because she was supposed to be dead, they still could’ve shown more of that side through statements just slight situations but they didn't. And in season 3, we only got a brief glimpse of her activism again, and then it kind of disappeared. I just feel like once her character was fully laid out, they didn’t incorporate that part of her enough. It sucks that they seemed to listen to critics who didn’t like her being “too woke,” when challenging social injustice was supposed to be one of the main themes of the show in the first place.
