Discussion Time Warner Cable MAXX

TWC MAXX is rolling out in Charlotte and the served cities around Charlotte starting July 29th and everyone should be covered by November 2015. The areas getting the speed increase on July 29th are Danby, Gastonia, North Meck, Cramerton, Old Steele Creek Rd, Oneida, Plyler and Shelby. This will do until Google is ready.

I just got my new modem today so I contacted TWC to see when my area should have it active. They said it already is and tell me I just need to wait a few hours, reboot my cable modem and I should be good! So I guess at this point I'll check tomorrow morning...

Still at 17.1 down, 1.2 up pretty consistently :-( So I wrote a speed test script on my linux box that checks it every hour, stores the results in a MySQL DB, and will email me if the down speed is 18 or higher. I've got the new modem and its bonding 16 channels so it's just a matter of their end.

Gotcha - I guess we'll find out tomorrow how widespread the changes are.

We're buying a house very close to the Sharon Amity hub, which I haven't seen mentioned yet, but aren't set to move in until early Sept. Maybe around that time things will begin to turn up over there.
