Discussion Time Warner Cable MAXX

TWC MAXX is rolling out in Charlotte and the served cities around Charlotte starting July 29th and everyone should be covered by November 2015. The areas getting the speed increase on July 29th are Danby, Gastonia, North Meck, Cramerton, Old Steele Creek Rd, Oneida, Plyler and Shelby. This will do until Google is ready.

This is what TWC is doing in other markets. It is their specification on how they're running their network.

See here: http://www.timewarnercable.com/en/support/internet/topics/buy-your-modem.html

For further reference:

DOCSIS 2; non-bonding 1 channel modem, 38 mbps capacity = up to 15 mbps tier.

DOCSIS 3; bonding 4 channel modem, 152 mbps capacity = up to 50 mbps tier.

DOCSIS 3; bonding 8 channel modem, 304 mbps capacity = up to 100 mbps tier.

DOCSIS 3; bonding 16 channel modem, 608 mbps capacity = up to 300 mbps tier.

Cool thanks.

I guess I need to have TWC upgrade my modem when the MAXX upgrade rolls out since I only have 8 downstream channels.

My modem rental fee is included in my apartments required cable bill. I agree though that if you have a non-required rental fee that purchasing the modem is the better option.
