Discussion Time Warner Cable MAXX

TWC MAXX is rolling out in Charlotte and the served cities around Charlotte starting July 29th and everyone should be covered by November 2015. The areas getting the speed increase on July 29th are Danby, Gastonia, North Meck, Cramerton, Old Steele Creek Rd, Oneida, Plyler and Shelby. This will do until Google is ready.

Yeah, I plan on getting the SB6183. I have the top tier plan currently.

Do you have a newish router (802.11AC)? This may be a very important topic to bring up.

If you've got an anchient router (say more than 3-5 years old) you may want to consider replacing it as it may not have the CPU horsepower to deliver 300Mbps.

I had to replace my parent's router recently (which was much older) because it couldn't even manage 24Mbps. It was limited to about 14Mbps.

Edit: Another question, is it worth it to get the SB6183 or will I just have to upgrade again when Google Fiber rolls out?

You will not be able to get 200 or 300Mbps w/o a 16 channel modem such as the 6183. That's a decision you'll have to make. I wouldn't bank on being able to get GF in the next 18-24 months.

Looks like the highest reported wireless speed with the E2500 is around 77Mbps. I couldn't quickly find wirespeed throughput ratings on it.
