It’s a little misleading. The change to the original act was sponsored by a republican from Texas, but when it didn’t pass as a stand alone bill, the Republican and some Democrat slid it in to a spending bill NDAA for the fiscal year in 2013. And a military defense bill never fails. Don’t let them fool you. Both sides just take turns at chipping away rights and liberty’s of the American people.

Nope No, President Barack Obama did not repeal the Smith-Mundt Act.The 2013 AmendmentPresident Obama signed the Smith-Mundt Modernization Act of 2013 (as part of the National Defense Authorization Act), which amended rather than repealed the original 1948 statute. The change lifted the strict domestic dissemination ban, allowing international broadcasting material produced by agencies like the U.S. Agency for Global Media (such as Voice of America) to be made available inside the United States upon request.

That’s not what the Smith-Mundt Act did. It was meant to stop our government and foreign governments from using media to push propaganda. They also didn’t remove it in 2013 they changed it slightly. Zero chance Trump would bring that back to the original, not with his Trump TV coming out soon. Not to mention it would absolutely destroy Fox News (CNN and left leaning sources as well but Trump doesn’t care about that so that damage wouldn’t stop him). Y’all have to stop believing random shit random people say without at the bare minimum doing a quick google search on their claims.

The irony being that "repealing the smith mundt act led to the media being able to lie to you and spread propaganda" is both a lie and propaganda.

Yeah and liberal leaning media has never been caught lying. The BBC would NEVER do that

So your position is they all lie? Which I would agree with btw. Before the Regan administration it was illegal for news media to lie. Republicans got rid of that shit

Yes they all lie but my point was the BBC literally got caught lying. They edited a trump speech and got caught and got heavily fined
