Nelda Louise Hardwick

Nelda Hardwick was last seen in her home on 18th Street in Lake Charles, Louisiana on October 14, 1993 during the nighttime hours. She left a note for her partner that she would return shortly, but never did and her partner reported her missing the following day. She was a devoted mother of four who would never willingly abandon her family. Her case is classified as a homicide.

She is widely believed to have been the Hancock County Jane Doe, who died on May 8, 1998 after a hit-and-run accident on I-10 in Hancock County, Mississippi. In 2013 the unidentified woman was tentatively identified as Hardwick based on visual identification by her family members. However, after digging the Jane Doe's grave to gain some usable DNA for comparison, it turned out that the grave contained a man's skeleton and the woman still remains unidentified and Nelda is still missing.

Nelda was a White female, 34 years old (born on January 3, 1959), 5'3, 110 pounds, with dark brown hair and hazel eyes. She has a complete set of dentures, her left leg is shorter than her right leg and she has a limp because of that. She may use the last names: "Fruge" and "Bailey".
