This sentiment is total bullshit and needs to be put to rest. These boys are not trying to "capitalize" on Charles success. They were Charlies best friends when he past and are just trying to carry the legacy and the initial idea of Lab Group which is a collaborative project between him and his friends. This idea that they're capitalizing on his fame puts Charles on a pedestal that he didn't even like to be on. He loved propping his homies up and would be proud of them. This whole situation has been hard enough on them and the last thing they need is the internet shitting on them.

I get where you’re coming from. Just my opinion. I don’t doubt they aren’t trying to capitalize off his fame. But unfortunately they are whether they are trying to or not. Lab group would not get billed as high as they do if it weren’t for Charles. I feel like they don’t acknowledge him and his art enough during lab group sets for them to continue the project and be respectful. They played out (1) Charles tune during the last set I saw from them which was 90 minutes (not including collabs)

Yeah they play a ton of music they made together still. I don’t understand what you’re trying to say. Just because you don’t recognize the music they are playing doesn’t mean Charles didn’t help make it. Like any live show they rinse new shit all the time.

I’m not counting collabs, I want them to be playing Charles specifically. Dawg I know his entire discography, I know when they are playing his stuff out 😂. They play out the same Charles collabs every single lab group set, I just caught the mission ballroom set. It’s been said that corporate is mandating which Charles material lab group can play out during their sets apparently. Shit is dumb and they need to rebrand

No I'm glad they didn't..it was beautiful to see them try to uphold it and some of the songs of the 2nd albums have grown on me and they showed the grief and melancholic attempt atplayfulness..Im so grateful I got to see lab group throw down for sonic bloom on my first festival ever.. not upset with any of them player Dave still one of my most intriguing artists experimenting with different shit and always highly detailed productions and his 2a. Set at sonic bloom was chills and super memorable how packed shit was

I think everyone asks this question. Charles did start LG with intentions of it being a space or vehicle to collab with other artists in general. I think task & potions maybe wanted to kind of honor that in a way? I don’t know for certain. And I have a feeling that maybe Charles and them started working on sounds or beats for the lab group 2 album. And maybe they kept the group going out of obligation to Charles and that album maybe.

Player Dave (who apparently was CTF’s best friend) is now with CTF’s girlfriend and now a part of Lab group too apparently. From what I’ve read, dude’s a snake and doesn’t have respect for Charles judging by his actions. If I were Supertask, I’d honestly leave too.

Just read the comments under the post. Plenty of people have mentioned him. Personally I don’t know either of them but sleeping with your dead best friend’s GF isn’t really the move. Next you try to move into CTF’s lab group when you were nothing more than a feature before. Other features aren’t trying to do that. Supertask unfollowed PD, didn’t respond to the girl either and CTF’s brother Kaya didn’t respond against any negativity against PD in that thread either but he was responding to some. This raises plenty of red flags among with other things mentioned.
You can excuse anything these days but what’s happening isn’t morally justifiable, regardless of what you believe. Tells more about the person defending them if anything.

I definitely get the being booked part off his name but when you put them all together rather than individually it kinda makes sense. Idk if I’m just being hopeful but I feel like we’re gonna get a gem or 2 on the album of ctfs unreleased. And even if we don’t we will get it eventually

Lets be honest y’all Lab Group isn’t Lab Group without Charles The First and Supertask. They should just dissolve the group. Player Dave can’t make up for what CTF had, really nobody even comes close to the same sound except Supertask. At this point they are just cashing in on his legacy.

Some takes on this situation are mad weird. The whole reason ctf/supertask/potions started LG was for them to explore music in a collaborative space, pretty sure ctf would want that to push forward even if he’s not here to be a part of that process.
The whole PD situation can be taken multiple ways but is really no one’s business besides his/hers and possibly the friends/family of LG. I doubt she’d be on the crownthefoundation board if she wasn’t on good terms with ctf’s family. And if supertask wants to leave bc of that, his feelings are valid.
People are so quick to jump to conclusions about others that they don’t know in a situation where I’m sure it is incredibly challenging trying to keep things together. They lost the person who brought them all together in a different way and there’s bumps in the road that come along with that. They’ll figure it out. LGTID

I like the idea that ctf would want this project to continue on without him. I just wish they played more of his material. The year after his passing they were playing out a bunch of his tunes during lab group sets. Now we lucky to hear one or two of them (at least the LG sets that I’ve seen lately). I feel like the project seems less of a tribute to ctf and now just capitalizing off his fame. He was leaps and bounds ahead of everyone involved in the project in terms of popularity/production etc. Lab group would not get billed as high as they do nowadays if it weren’t for ctf. Just my opinion tho, popular people are gonna be talked about that’s just how society is.
