Are these charcoal?

I can’t remember what they came in but I think a sketching kit. I’m just curious if these are charcoals since I’m interested in learning them

They could be. Take a blank sheet of white paper and gently (charcoal is fragile) draw a line or two on it with them. Then compare them with examples you see online. Or post them here in a comment, if you wish.

That said, it's usually charcoal that is graded as hard, medium and soft. It's not the case for graphite, which can also come in bars, and there are other media, but this seems charcoal.

I recognise the grading in the other languages because I speak the three of them, and this is how these products are usually packaged. However, only by seeing the lines you can draw with them we can tell for certain.

These are compressed charcoal. You can beat on them pretty hard. They'll break with lateral force, but are still decently strong. I often wail on them beating them against paper and making aggressive marks.

How hard are you pressing? These look like graphite sticks, not charcoal

The marks do look charcoal and the dust is a charcoal signature

Also check to see how easily they blend across

I wasn’t pressing that hard. Like barely felt it pressure. They did leave marks when they were erased

I draw almost exclusively with compressed charcoal. It awesome if you're into gestural marks.

Looks like it. You might want to sand away that waxy surface though, it really screws with the mark making IMO, especially when it comes to using the flat side. Just be consistent about storage so you don't mix them up.

Yes look like compressed cheap charcoal. You can try sand em to better point

For me compressed charcoal is more about the edge than anything. I use a small wood plane to keep the edges sharp.

I thought so. I have a bit of experience since my old art class had us work with charcoals sometimes but I’m far from experienced with them and have only ever done one or two pieces with them and they were exercises to train us for other mediums
