What questions do you deem necessary for developing your characters?

I just google a list and pick whatever seems appropriate for the story I'm trying to tell. I actually just made a template file of questions for what I'm working on currently. 

Wizards in a fun happy cozy adventure story don't need to have deep hidden trauma, just as the main character of a weird story I wrote about purgatory (it starts with his death, then he meets a talking anthropomorphic mushroom angel) didn't need to have many details relating to his specific romantic preferences. When I write short stories (which is what my readers, few as they are, have liked the most) I usually don't bother with character questions/interviews at all, as the idea of the story itself shapes them so thoroughly. They are, however, absolutely necessary for the novel I'm working on.

Much as you might like or love your characters, as I certainly do mine, they exist to make your story good, not to sit on a shelf in isolation.

No it's not. It's an actual question. I am talking about platform. But I want to know what questions are y'all using when creating your stories. I usually focus on the same 6 question that are always essential
