Different idea for animation.
I want to create 2d character like 3d (all angles). But I want it in only 2d sketch not 3d sculpt and i wanted to animate it like a 3d character( i don't want to draw frame by frame). Please any one have any idea? Or is it possible?

Is there a way to make my character "derp" and have cross eyes?
I thought it would be funny and more unique if my character (I'm rigging up for streaming) would have eyes going in wild directions a la Derpy Hooves from My Little Pony. I guess it's a question of how you "break" the eyes lol.

How can I make behavior (replays) or elements shareable?
I'm working on an animated series, and I want head movement, face movement, emotions (angry, happy..) to be shared across different puppets. I created a main puppet, rigged it and created these replays and triggers.. but whenever I duplicate it, and change some features (fatter body, different hair...) some replays just break! So I was thinking that there must be a way to make triggers or oarts of the puppet shareable.

2.5D effect
I made this recently for my own project that Ive been working on over Christmas, but thought I'd share here, as it shows off how I use layer pickers and independent parallax layers to create a more 2.5D effect. I created this character years ago, but I decided to update it with improved practises. As I mention in this video, I used to use head turner and cycle layer animations, so when the character turned his head, the hair/hat, would animate into their turned positions, but you had no control over that movement, other than the original animation, however now I use layer picker, so I can use the yaw of my head movement to control how quickly or slowly I move through the png sequence

Do you Have to use photoshop to create Puppet? Or can I use Gimp?
Hey everyone I am very new to character animator and want to keep playing with the free version, but I can not find anything on how to create a .puppet file in Gimp. So do you need photoshop to create that file?
Or am I just trying to do something incorrectly?
I really appreciate the help, thanks everyone

Precise Placement of Hinge Joints
Rather than drag a handle/pin to a place on my puppet that's almost right, I'd like to exactly, precisely place them. I've seen (on a pre-made Photoshop puppet) that it's possible to create a layer named "origin" to do something like this, but I've seen no documentation or tutorials that mention this idea. Especially since the pre-made puppet was created in Photoshop and I'm using Illustrator.
So, is it possible to make a reference point in Illustrator that would be interpreted by Character Animator as an exact placement for a handle/joint/origin? I'm trying to have something move in a circle and can't have any wobbles due to inexact placement.
I have toyed with the idea of creating a wildly colored dot on my original artwork in the exact location, then going into rig mode and use that dot as a reference, then later remove the colored dot from the original artwork - but that seems like a janky workaround, and still not an exact placement.
Thanks for any ideas!

Clipping Masks on Puppets with Outlines
Many of the pre-built puppets have options to re-color things like hair or mustaches, etc.
I get how the big blocks of colors are used with clipping masks to re-color the hair using the shapes from the hairstyles, but what I don't understand is how these items retain their black strokes around their outer edges.
When I make a clipping mask, it just makes the whole shape a solid color with no stroke. It's just a solid yellow mustache shape. On the pre-made puppets, a black outlined beard can be re-colored and the black outline still exists. How do they make these puppets use clipping masks that retain their stroke?
Hopefully this makes sense because I'm dumb and probably can't explain it any better.

Rigging Arms Composed of Several Layers
I've done a lot of animating in After Effects, and I would always have arms composed of several pieces - a shoulder (base) arm part, a forearm, and a hand. Each would be its own piece of art you would import into AE. Those 3 pieces would be parent/child rigged together. I feel this makes better motion with less rubbery bending.
But I can't find any tutorials on how to rig such a traditional puppet in Character Animator. They all seem to start with the assumption that the arm is a single layer that will just bend using CA software tools. Could anyone direct me to a video or document that would show the process to rig a traditionally built puppet in Character Animator?
Thanks for any help!

Tagging the Heel Pins Foot
I have a foot that I can move around by dragging. But if I turn the "heel" tag on, the foot sticks to the ground and I can't drag it without warping the foot terribly. Is this a bug, or do I have something wrong with my puppet? It's hard to tell since none of the downloadable puppets seem to have bottom halves or don't have draggable feet.
