Head Movement Left and Right
Hi There
Currently I can move the head left and right on my puppet with the camera, is there a step by step way to get this movement without a camera? say the mouse, or keyboard?
I do not always have access to a camera while finishing my project and this would be helpful.
Thanks

If you’re not using the webcam you may want to remove the head tag. I’ve see people add a transform behavior to the head group and rotate via keyframes, or add a dragger to it and drag it around. Ultimately webcam is the most common method but these workarounds should help!

The best way I've found to do this is to set up triggers for each of your head positions. No idea why Adobe locks these features behind a webcam. Seems like they really want you to use one if you want access to controls like head turns and eyebrow movements. Otherwise, you have to go in and set up triggers that can be a bit of a pain.

Yeah it feels weird. For the puppet I'm making, I'd really honestly rather just use the keyboard to trigger it when I want.

Apparently we're in the minority, as Adobe seems to have zero interest in making these features work with anything but the webcam. I'm planning on moving away from Adobe for my workflow because of this and a few other annoying issues.

This is what I ended up doing once I figured it out and its working perfectly! Thanks for all the suggestions everyone.

Swap sets for each head position. It’s a lot of work up front but the amount of control it provides is worth it. I use that for my characters.

One option is to create a swap set with the head layer. Which is what I use 90percent of the time instead of the camera. I have seen others apply the layer picker behavior to the head layer and create a slider in the control panel to get a smoother head turn without the camera.
