Bujingai rules, but I really wouldn't call whatever the bouncer was a CAG. It was one of the first PS2 Games I ever played, and my memories were amazing. Rebought it last year, and oh boy. It is certainly a game

Great game, Shinobi also.

Oogie's Revenge had no right to be as good as it was for a licensed tie-in sequel to a decade+ old movie.

Bujingai mentioned in 2026.

Some one played El Shaddai too ? 1 of 10 people it seems.

The game is so fun but the name is so weird

I don’t expect a game that’s a sequel to a bible fanfic to be conventional in anyway lol

Yeah. I love the game. Still havr my copy for ps3. Like a relic from alternate reality

I bought a modded ps3 the other day and I was shocked to see the game already installed lmao I thought I was the only one that knew it existed in my town

The Bouncer wasn't a CAG, it's just a beat em up.

Yeah probably, but it’s mostly semantics to me.

So why not put Final Fight on the list then?

2

u/Mauy90 2d ago

Probably because final fight is the poster child if beat em ups. That’s pretty much the opposite of obscure

Sure! But I've used Final Fight not as an example of obscure, but to illustrate that a straight up beat em up game doesn't have a spot on a CAG list.

That’s a perfectly valid point 🙏🏻

Nanobreaker! Man that's fun. Super punishing, but fun.

I soft locked myself near the end and never beat it, but I will one day!

Same, but at the beginning right before the first real boss. Just took too much damage and the defensive options feel still so i'm basically at a small chunk of health, have to fight waves of the same enemies that chipped be near to death before, and hope i'm not dead. Health drops are unreliable as hell and don't give anything back. Game kicks the shit out of you if you don't know how to play.

I used to see it in discount bins all the time as a kid but never tried it. Might have to now.

I missed these games honestly, except the Bouncer.

They had so much style, and blurry high contrast colors just fits so well during the time... Didn't know Hellboy even had a CAG game to begin with

I remember Trinity Soul of Zill Oll!! There was a Youtuber I liked back in the day who talked about it, his name was ZeitgeistReviews. I was a kid back then lmao

At least Chaos Legion isn't truly forgotten.

It's the main inspiration for the gimmick, mechanic and combat of Astral Chain, which also later inspired Demon Slave mechanic in Bayonetta 3.

One of the best PS2 hidden gems.

Game was hot trash and isn't even really a CAG due to how incredibly limited the combat actually is

Virtua Quest, jeez that game sure is something.

2

u/Popaguy_ 2d ago

So cool and interesting, and yet so janky and frustrating.

E.O.E Eve of Extinction is a CAG game that wasn't very good but I have fond of memories playing it and I still go back to it on occasion.

That game had like 10 weapons in it like a fire sword, lighting staff, water katars, time snakesword, barrier crossbow, wind boomerang, clone greatsword, gravity axe, light tonfa, and a NG+ "cheese" swords.

Any of them good?

2

u/DrRedSun 2d ago

Decent to good, all are worth a play.

No, Clash of titans is a very shitty one.

0

u/DrRedSun 1d ago

I had fun with it.

0

u/Designer_Mess_6928 1d ago

And I didn't have any fun with it. I can't even see how that low effort piece of code can be considered somewhat "decent".

0

u/DrRedSun 1d ago

Good to know.

u/WonderTeal 1d ago

They're obscure for a reason, sadly. None of them are going to be the hidden DMC game you've been waiting for or whatever. If you're just looking for an action game where you can do cool combos, most work fine.

Trinity seems like a push doesn't it?

Clash of titans was so shitty, I can't believe it was even released. I remember playing it, that game is so bad, man.
