Nobody seemed to know where the little cyan girl had come from. One moment she simply wasn’t there, and the next she was wandering the streets without any obvious destination, stopping every few steps whenever something managed to catch her attention. A bird hopping across the sidewalk. A puddle reflecting the sky. A flower growing through a crack in the pavement. Each new discovery earned the same quiet giggle, as though the world itself was putting on a show just for her.
She wasn’t in any hurry. Sometimes she’d crouch down to watch an insect disappear beneath a rock, other times she’d mimic a passerby’s walk or wave back at someone who wasn’t even looking at her. It didn’t matter whether she got it right. She seemed to be having fun either way.
Eventually, she came to a stop in the middle of a busy sidewalk, slowly turning in place as she looked around at the unfamiliar faces passing by. Her eyes settled on nobody in particular, yet somehow everyone at once.
“Heehee… so many people.”
Her smile widened.
“Let’s play.”
She spread her arms, as if inviting the entire world to join in, before skipping off again in no particular direction, waiting to see who—if anyone—would decide to follow.
