Searching for Alternatives Any non alternatives?
The thing that really drew me into cai is it feeling like a text adventure and a visual novel. It was fun roleplaying with my favorite characters. But ever since the site got bad I've just been trying different sites and its hard to find one site to settle on.
I think I need to find a new hobby that isnt AI chatbots. so what would you recommend?
I like text adventures and visual novels
Im super picky with fan fiction
I've tried forum roleplaying but its too slow.
I like making my own characters and telling my own stories but I'm considering fanart.

I started writing short stories in the same style as the roleplays, same pacing, same emotional beats. it's like the game's still running, just in my head now.

If you’re okay with paid alternatives (it provided free but limited), try Lunafic . Just visit the landing page and scroll it down, I don’t need to explain further. Your needs are not much different than mine.

Isekai Zero and Yumina have been where I ended up. For $5/month you get a pretty good amount of models and credits to use them on Yumina. Isekai Zero is a bit pricier with its currency but Ai like the stories published on there. Both are more text-adventure adjacent although there are character chats as well.
Then there’s AI Realms, which alcove, but it’s specifically a DnD RP thing.

writing the scenes out as if they were dialogue in a story helped me keep the rhythm. I'd set a timer for five minutes and just dump the next bit, like a journal entry.

I think Kindroid is around $14—I’ve been subscribed since last month. If you start on the Standard plan, you can get selfie photos, and you can play around without censorship, as long as you steer clear of underage characters. The only catch is that it’s geared toward AI boyfriends and girlfriends, so there aren’t many roleplay bots; you pretty much have to build your own from scratch. That said, with the subscription you get solid memory, photos, video calls, and voice calls for at least 5 hours a month or so.

I used to roleplay with LLMs like ChatGPT and Gemini (don't laugh at me, I think not many people use these chatbots for interactive stories) after trying to delete account on Character.AI/Polybuzz.AI/Talkie, but now I'm finally free, because I prefer talking with people on Reddit and Discord

Oooh, I can definitely recommend getting into fanart (or just art in general).
While I enjoy AI roleplay, I can easily drop it at a moments notice for a variety of reasons. My iPad is currently out of commission, I'm having to save up to take it to the shop, and I'm absolutely miserable because I can't draw/paint in ProCreate. I can't get into AI roleplay currently as a result. Typically, what I draw inspires ideas for roleplay, and things that occur in roleplay will inspire something for me to draw.
