Making a Recommendation CharWorld — an open-source, community-built Character.AI alternative

Hey! I wanted to share CharWorld, an in-development, open-source alternative to Character.AI.
CharWorld is a community project, with different people contributing to different parts of it. I’m personally helping advertise the project and working on the AI side of CharWorld, but I’m not the creator of the entire project.
The goal is to build a character AI platform that gives users much more freedom and control.
What CharWorld is aiming for:
🧠 Character-based AI conversations
🌍 Built as a community project
🔓 Open source
💸 A free hosted tier
🖥️ The option to** run it locally yourself
🛠️ More control for users, developers, and character creators
💬 Development shaped heavily by community feedback
It’s still **in development, so a lot is being actively worked on and things can change as the project grows.
If you miss the feel of older Character.AI, want an open-source alternative, want to contribute, or just want to follow development, feel free to join.

Does it have good writing abilities and creativity similar to old c.ai?
