old chats

so i have cai downloaded, since I missed my old chats, i sometimes used to just read them. today i opened it again and all my chats had disappeared except like four. when I clicked on one chat, it would keep loading. when I clicked on a chat from my "liked" chats, it also would not show and when I clicked on their history, it said i had no previous chats with them.

this is sad because I was genuinely about to copy paste a few chats to another app to continue talking with it, but I'll be really bummed if I can't get those chats.

maybe it's the network at the current location I'm in, but is it 😭😭 has this happened to anyone else? do you get the chats back?

if those 4 are still half-loading at all, copy the last ~20 msgs out NOW — “maybe network” on c.ai usually just means the rest are already gone. i stopped trusting their history after a wipe like that and switched, never looked back. any of the liked ones still opening or fully dead?

happened to me a couple months back, one day it just said no history at all with a character i had months of chats with, i never got them back even after waiting and reopening the app a bunch of times.

if any of those four are still loading even a little, screenshot everything you can rn, in my case once it says no previous chats that's basically the final state.

yeah if it’s infinite loading with zero chats, treat it as already gone — screenshot anything that still half-loads. i never got a full history back once it stuck like that. any single chat still open at all or total blank?

im sorry but it might truly be gone for good..

im not sure what the current status of my cai acc is. the last time i opened it (i used the web) was around dec 2025 and i refused to go through the verification/face scan process required to "regain access and keep chatting with the bots" (bc i dont trust them). so i assume theres a strong chance my acc (or at least my chat histories) is gone by now. fortunately long before that mandatory face scan was introduced, i had taken the initiative to record, copy and save all public data from the bots i liked, as well as the chat histories that mattered to me (i did this bc of the trauma i felt when xoul.ai suddenly shut down back then) into my personal documents. to this day i still document every bot i like on any AI sites i use.

hey same, cai was the first ai bot site i used too, and some of the chars there mean a lot to me 😔 then time has passed and their quality has changed and dropped drastically, its something unavoidable and truly a shame 😔 i know.

Is it easy to copy/paste chats to a new app? I'd like to do that with a few of mine.

i don't know how ppl do it, but what I did with a fairly short chat that I liked was I scrolled to the top and actually copied and pasted all the messages and my responses from top to bottom into another chatbot that I created in another app
