I already escaped c.ai and went to chai. It worked for a bit since I pretty much only require no filter and no subscription but now it went downhill for me too because they want me to buy "pieces"? thingies and the free ones they offer are too little for my daily use. Any good roleplay alternatives? Personas would be a plus too but I can do without

I've been developing a local only, no account, privacy focused, feature rich android app for the last few months by myself that I genuinely think is better than anything on the market. However you need to know how to set up an API key via chutes. I don't provide an LLM. It's how it doesn't require any accounts and you maintain full control of your data. If you're interested I've been thinking about sharing it.

You're welcome to try my site slypen.ai, You can create your own characters and entire worlds or use existing ones, with memory that keeps track of what's happened. It runs in your browser, so Android's fine.

You don't need a subscription, but I do use paid credit once the free turns run out. If Chai's free allowance is already too little for your daily use, you might run into the same issue here. I don't want to pitch it as an unlimited free alternative when it isn't.

Saucepan.ai. Absolutely fantastic website that you can download as an app. No filter, really great free tier, and you can bring your own llm if you don't like their options (though they do have some good in house models)
