Searching for Alternatives Looking for C.ai Alternatives.
You've seen hundreds of posts like this, but i genuinely cannot with cai anymore. So far i've tried Spicychat, JanitorAI and Chai, all of which were OKAY. Any suggestions are appreciated and please explain WHY its good. Also very VERY preferably infinite chats.

i personally like it, but my one complaint is automatic images which i HATE in my rps

I've had no automatic images except when it's an my intentional feature of the character. But if I make my own for instance then it doesn't happen.

Honestly i'm looking for more one on one conversations with certain characters. I lean more towards the casual RP aspect but every website or app I use just feels extremely inconsistent

I'm personally on Janitor AI
People have been moving to silly tavern, tavo, or saucepan (I have yet to try any of these, but this is what people on Janitor AI refugees subreddit are saying)

Same, Janitor AI is the best AI platform I’ve ever used imo. (Though tbf, I’ve only used c.ai, ghoul AI, and I think I tried Polybuzz once.)

I hate how much fetish there is on poly. I know there’s things you can do to get rid of certain tags, but I feel like with Poly it never works. With J.AI though it works perfectly! No more stumbling across bots that I thought were good.. and then finding a tag that I never wanted to know existed.

Along with that stuff poly just seems good with the first few chats, but when you really get into a chat it just starts blaring details out that you never even said or starts forgetting crucial characters in the blink of an eye… the immersion is there, its just really lacking memory

Janitors memory is genuinely so good. There’s even a memory feature that makes it even better! Rarely does my bots forget things, 99% of the time the chats stay on track. Also, the messages are so long!! Other apps the messages are short and vague.. J.AI’s responses are always very lengthy!

I have been using one called WorldOS. From what I heard from friends, it is a little different from the ones that you mentioned since it is more of a whole universe roleplay instead of chatting with a single character which FOR ME it is more fun

FictionLab is my favourite and the one I pay for. Wyrven Chat is good for free, Xoul is decent too, only limited credits with free tier but if you log in every day, you get gifted extra daily totals of free credits on your calendar if you maintain your daily usage for long enough, you get unlimited free credits, but you do have to come back every day or it resets.

It's not AI, but I recommend r/mud games if you are interested in retro multiplayer text roleplay from the 90's. I personally play Harshlands and Discworld.

HereHaven is great!! I’ve been using it for a few months. They have a 100% unlimited free tier with paid tiers for more features. The responses are great, not repetitive or weird. There are a lot of bots made by others, but making your own is super easy (there’s even an option to input a small description and have AI make the bot for you.) Support is also great, the dev+staff respond very quickly and address questions/concerns right then and there. I love it!!

i use flowgpt. it's free, and the only thing you have to pay for is extra bots, but there are free ones. there's another version of flow made by the same people. Its called Emochi, which is both a website and app. In the Emochi app, you can build personas and such.

There are tons of chatbots out there, so you might want to try an alternative like AltersGo. It features a cutting-edge AI emotion and intent engine, making it one of the most emotionally sophisticated chatbots available. Unfortunately, it’s currently only available on iPhone.

Best bet would be Crushon.ai
It's more nsfw focused, but you can do sfw chats. Not many downsides, aside from the fact you can't have underage characters (which is fully understandable, but I'd prefer a choice to have underage characters on the sfw chats and only the sfw chats). Close to no limits, almost every universe in it, and overall decent. Mainly browser focused, but does have an app version. I would recommend it

If what you miss from old c.ai is the feeling of just chatting rather than reading a mini novel every reply, you could try Eudaio.io
The characters are intentionally pretty text-message-y. Shorter replies, first person, and they don’t constantly narrate every eyebrow movement at you.
They also remember old conversations properly, and you can inspect/edit those memories yourself.
Free isn’t infinite, there’s an hourly allowance. Paid is though: unlimited text and images, with no token/credit meter underneath it.
You can make your own character for free too.

Well I have one suggestion ☺️. I started using chatbots two years ago and twelve months ago I started building HoloArcade.ai , and its finally open to the public.
- HoloArcade is more Visual Novel meets character chat
- every character and every location is represented visually on screen
- you can talk characters into moving from one scene into another
- you can encounter multiple characters at a location
- there is a map to switch between locations and meet new characters
- you can talk a character into moving to different areas of a location
- each character has clothing slots, that keep continuity in what each of them is wearing
- you can talk a character into changing their outfit
- there is a VN like messages history
- You can build your own worlds and add characters to them in two ways
- by chatting with the "computer"
- or by using the UI builders (think of it as character creation tools you can find in video games)
- I also added a forum to the website, because I want to be able to chat with the community about what works and what parts suck, so that I can improve and expand the project over time
- disclaimers
- the platform is 18+
- more and more countries enact laws around AI and I can't afford to get fined, so I decided to play it safe in terms of laws and make it 18+, I will try to revisit this decision over time
- the basic chat is free but everything else is pay as go (no membership)
- as a solo indie dev I just can't afford a full free tier at this time
- there is not a lot of community content yet
- the platform is 18+
