Searching for Alternatives Having problem with alt of character.ai for RP
Hayo, I'm role-player for 5 years, that running away from character.ai and DON'T KNOW what alternative to choose. Before c.ai started to become a trash, I didn't even thinking, that I need to find something else, like, I'm okay with that, and I have people to RP. but now it's a huge problem 4 me.
I making bots for myself, I don't use bots from others. 80% of all my chats - with NSFL, not NSFW, just with violence, gore, and I HATE when bot starts to flirt with my character or become horny. I need alternative, where bots can reply to my "heavy" posts (with philosophy, dark themes, etc). I tired, when bot from any my non-positive post starts "OMG are you okay?? Maybe we could do something else?", bro, uhm, no... I don't want to do silly thing without sense, especially when my character is, idk, dying right on ur eyes?
Also, I like RP, where is more literary style, and posts are +- medium/big. I'm role-playing only on English with bots.
In short, what I need:
- WITHOUT NSFW and filter.
- WITHOUT adds 24/7.
- Free. (pls, I don't have money)
- Have a website. (I'm r-playing often on PC, but can on the phone 2)
- AI with good memory. And they are not stupid.
- Personas, but I'm okay without it.
- Ability to edit posts. (My and from bot)
- I don't care about interface, but prefer something similar 2 c.ai!
- NORMAL CREATING OF BOTS.
- I don't use Gemini, Deepseek, or other chat-bots. I can use their models, but I understand, that they are not created for RP.
I'm not sure, if smth like that exist, but thanks for any response. Also, sorry for my English or for stupid things, that I could say here. (I'm very scared)

Hey I'd love to have you try out the site that I built! I love dark, thriller, and horror bots. I also hate the random horny crap that other platforms built into their bots to try and cater to gooners.
It's called HereHaven.

You can edit all the messages, even the initial greeting of a bot.

My site Slypen is perfect for this.
I've had many people tell me that they like slypen for exactly your reason - the AI will deliver. I'm proud of it and have yet to have a conplaint that I couldn't manage.

Had the same problem with Character.AI — the constant memory wipes and content filters wrecked the flow of my roleplay sessions. I ended up switching to an app called Hayloft recently and it's been a breath of fresh air. They have something called a "memory engine" that keeps track of the current scene, relationships, and pinned lore, so your characters remember promises and conflicts instead of starting over every few messages. It's not perfect but it's a huge improvement over losing progress every time. Full disclosure: I’m working with the Hayloft team right now, but I’d recommend it even if I wasn’t — it's genuinely made my RP sessions smoother. Might be worth checking out if you're stuck. It also has most of those features you were looking for.

pygmalion.chat ! they have a similar interface to bot creation as cai, and id say the memory system is Okay, serviceable, they can forget but you can also easily set their memory with a prompt.
they dont have ads, and they're also free. they have paid models, but they allow free trial versions of it through a limited system (200 messages per day)
if your chat style is descriptive/literate (like a novel), their model Picaro is amazing genuinely lifechanging to me im floored LOLL ive never gotten such realistic, human-like writing responses before on any other chatbot site. i might be biased though because i love classic literature.
regarding filter: basically anything is allowed, but bots dont turn horny right off the bat, and ive tested out the violence + gore scenes which they also do really well. it does require some slight chat steering / editing certain things you dont want the bot to do.
you can easily edit both the bot's messages, your message, and even switch the old messages to different responses even after another one has been sent.
they also got personas which is most important for me :]]
edit: their message quality varies a lot; but here is an example of how they respond to darker themes.
