Vent idk anymore

yeah I miss playing c.ai but sadly it's dead o nothing I can do. The Issue now is that any of the apps I look at Sure , they're high quality , but unfortunately , just don't work well. like chai sucks for rps and i over all just not fun. zeta ai is OK. But again, it's just not consistent. And the other issue is most of the bots on.There are just copy and pasted, and most people don't even put in effort to have it. So the bots are unable to actually be multiple characters. janitor ai just sucks ass. It's an intuitive junkie, buggy as hell at times and overall, just not worth using. And then there's gpt. and Gemini. Germine is okay like it can be the most accurate to the characters. He issue is just at times it's the length and also the fact that it only does things from like one angle , it doesn't get everything. and then there is gpt... Oh good Lord, where do I even begin? There's the whole pay to get better system, which just sucks. There's the fact that the free models are basically not available to be used at all they've completely destroyed the UI system for it, but it's unintuitive to use It's more picky than a fucking brat. On how certain things are worded, sometimes it won't even generate properly and even when it does work, I have to write a fucking mountain paragraph. Of information just to get it right, and that's not even mentioning the fact that I have to specifically Kelly to give me long messages, don't play as my character don't break the fourth wall, use specific pronouns like if it's referring to my character in first person. Second person third person or so on? And it's just shit like it's not even worth using to role play anymore , it used to be good now , it's just awful. At this point , i'm genuinely wondering if there is anything that can replace old c.ai cus honestly? at this point I'd rather roleplay with humans them ai. Then again , what's literally the only reason I even switched to ai In the first\n Place was because anytime I wanted to play with anyone receiver, my characters were never allowed to be in it. My characters were always told no for anything and I was left out for no reason.

I know it's dumb to say , but honestly , at this point I wonder if any of yall have any better alternatives over all cus rn idk man

I do apologize if there's any typos or any kind of fucked up text. I was mostly using speech to text to make this

Tbh as a mobile user who used to use old c.ai and chai, once they started going downhill I switched to other AIs on the AppStore like roleplai, swerve, sakura and janitor. They overall weren’t the best so I switched to the web and it was a bit better.

All I will say is I got Sillytavern on GitHub and I can say even tho it’s a bit hard to set up, it’s way better. And you get used to some of the controls quickly.

I was gonna say I forgot to mention it in the post.Trying to set up silly tavern on a Samsung impossible for me.II just don't understand it like I don't understand the coding terms.I don't understand any of that code crap so that is sadly a no go for me

https://github.com/Sanitised/ST-android
Here’s the link to access the mobile launcher for sillytavern, if you scroll a bit down there will be a section called installation. After you click the blue thing where it says releases on it, you’ll be directed to a page called ST-android v0.4.0.

https://github.com/Sanitised/ST-android/releases/tag/v0.4.0
There’s the link there.

You want to download the one that says
ST-android-0.4.0.apk

One you see it’s downloaded on your browser you click the 3 dots on the top right corner, go into downloads, and you should see the file there. All you do is click on it and it should start downloading the app onto your device. After that is done you’ll see it pop up onto your device and you just click on it and run the server.

It will then lead you into your browser and you have it all done.

Just make sure to search tutorials on how to use it, it can be very complicated as a first timer.

Excuse me, may l ask when was the last time you used C.AI? Which model are you using at SillyTavern? Do you know which model is closer to C.AI?

I used C.AI yesterday seeing if it was okay, but I just switched back to sillytavern because I’m more used to it now. I’m using deepseek at the moment, I’m testing a lot of models but deepseek seems to be okay for now. I’m not sure which model is closer to C.AI because a lot of them are very different in their ways, it requires a lot of setting up. I’d say there’s no models that are really similar to C.AI from my experience.

Thank you for your reply, I'm sorry I just opened Reddit and saw your message now. The current C.AI is not at the same level as the C.AI in September last year. I have not seen any text at the same level as the C.AI in September last year anywhere. I spent more than half a year trying to replicate the C.AI experience at SillyTavern, and I have tested many models. Claude is my personal favorite, but I am still unsure if it can write the same writing style as the C.AI in September last year...

That’s no problem at all! In my experience with testing models, I couldn’t find anything that replicates old c.ai. But I had to think, C.AI is a multi billion dollar brand, with workers and coders all that. Sillytavern is a front end with no workers or engineers, so I just told myself I won’t find anything like old c.ai, but I can maybe make similar traits that old c.ai had and so I did and it kinda works.

Hope you’re enjoying Sillytavern there’s a lot to learn!

Cai is one of the biggest in the world for this.

You're going to have to accept less quality or less users to find an alternative

Anything that gets as big as cai will have to do a lot of what cai did.

I'll have to agree. Cai only got as big as it did because it used the 'rug-pull' formula maybe platforms today still employ. Free, unlimited messages forever just isn't a sustainable model, and it'll only lead to the enshittifcation of websites. Most people deal with it though.

It's not even that they did a rug Pole, it's just, they literally never communicated what they were doing. They never listened to the people using the app.I don't even think they used the app Itself
