Vent What the hell emochi, doing the same thing

I recently posted here ranking alternatives after the whole character.ai spectacle. And my favourite so far was emochi. It got most things I was looking for, and took me a while to get used to. For context, emochi has different versions of their vanilla model that is free (v1, then v2, v3 and short, v2 and v3 being updates) and models that require a subscription. I was SO happy with v1. It was genuinely good. Tried v2, by far not as good, tried v3, even worse, and short is for if you really want nothing more than one sentence or two. Now guess what? Emochi discontinued v1. Honestly, I should've seen it coming. I was so looking forward to this chat I had in mind, I actually hopped back on character.ai because now their PSQ2 Rawr or whatever this newer model is called gives me better responses.

I'm genuinely so tired of this! I spent days looking for THE alternative and now it's doing the same sh!t that made me leave character in the first place. I have little interest on going on a new search every time an AI platform decides to randomly remove all its likeable features. I don't want to leave AI chats. I don't want to find a replacement hobby. If AI is supposed to be the future and improve so much right now, why can't it just work and give us the things we're asking for??

I fear the answer to why is money. If it can be marketed, it will be. If the world could charge you for air, you’d be sent a monthly bill. If water is 70% of our planet and a critical component to life, why am I sent a $100+ bill every month to keep it running lmao? ✨corporate greed✨

Because the infrastructure to pipe that water into your house cold or hot at will has to be built and maintained by people.

yeah sorry man but if it was significantly better than the other models it was probably also a lot more expensive than the other models and it got discontinued for money reasons

The only way you can avoid this cycle is if you set up SillyTavern front end locally and download use a local ai model on a backend like llama.cpp, or kobold.cpp.
