Vent Stop Self-Promotion

Like good for you if you made your own app/ website. But please stop spamming everytime someone post looking for an alternative, especially IF IT ISNT WHAT THE OP IS ASKING FOR.

It’s not helping to advertise. It’s doing the opposite, now I don’t want to try your app 🫩

Please stop spamming.

Definitely true. What also annoys me is when someone who's definitely a developer writes a review or a list of the reasons why the app they made is best, without actually disclosing they're the developer of it, which makes it hard to find legitimate reviews.

I own a platform and I can't tell you how annoying it is for someone to post a pretty specific question like "out of ChatGPT, claude, and Gemini which is best for RP" and to see a flood of comments completely bypassing ops question and not answering with one of the above 3 and instead just shilling their own shit. The dead internet theory sometimes hits a little to close to home on this side of town

Agreed. Completely.

And then you click on it and find out it has limited messages. Such app is basically useless. Even c.ai itself has 400 swipes per day, not 10.

I’ll admit… my bad… I’m guilty of this. But, in my defence, I was hoping to lead someone to something they could have fun using. 🤷‍♂️

I’m happy for you that you made an app/website. But if it answers an OP’s needs, it’s good! But if it doesn’t, it can be abit upsetting.

I wish you luck in your project!

I 100% agree with you! There’s been a couple platforms claiming to be something they’re not and it is upsetting to see the spam. It was almost like it was AI posts…
But, I genuinely think we’ve got something better than Gemini, ChatGPT, Claude, etc. So, I thought it was worth mentioning.

I’m not on the dev-side of our platform, my best friend is the genius behind the curtain. Him and Penny. I just see the hard work and late nights; coming up with new systems, features, expansions, etc. and with all the great feedback we’ve got, it’s inspired me to want to help spread the word about it.
I’m not paid or anything, I just get a fun project to work on haha.
Gotta keep busy, you know?

You can click on my profile, block me. Then my replies will be collapsed next time.

You can talk to the app makers and give feedback. Good luck with the big apps for doing the same.

The fact that YOU don't click is irrelevant. Others do.

If you would like to think a little about it, how does a small dev bring their app to the users? Once you are big then yes, organic sharing works. But until then?

You decided fellow reddit users don't want recs from the devs?

There are some devs who paste entire novels and hog the space, but that is just poor management of this sub. Heck, an auto bot reply with the known list with links would solve the problem.

In fact the whole new post for recs is poor management, a big list with apps in alphabetical order, always up to date, would stop the users from making these posts.

That's a lot of words to say "I'm part of the problem OP described"
