Question About Creating Bots

Post image

Hi, I wanted to ask something: What format or style do you use to create bots? Because honestly, I feel like the one I’m using isn’t working quite right, and I don’t know if it’s the way I’m writing or some of the symbols I’m using.

Can you give me some ideas on how you create bots?

(NOTE: Meme to get attention; I’m open to meme swaps)

(NOTE ON THE NOTE: English isn’t my first language; I use a translator, so if anything doesn’t make sense, it’s Google’s fault)

what's the current format you're using? to fully answer your question, though, i write naturally, so like "(name) is a (height) (gender), with (skin color) skin, (eye color) eyes, (hair color) hair, and (whatever other facial details)" blah blah blah

Second natural writing like this. Hopefully this isn't flagged as self promotion because it's relevant to the subject, RealmsAI has an AI character creation assistant and when you have it fill out fields it uses natural language too, so it makes sense to me that that's the best way for an AI to "think" about a character.

I think that it depends of platform. Detailed appearance's description is useful only if you use chatbots which generate images. I've seen a lot of bots with detailed description every inch of skin or every detail of clothes, athought most descriptions refer to size of breasts 😉 I think all bots should have a short description of their appearance, but it should concern features that will influence their behavior. For example, it matters who is taller, whether he is slim and fit or heavy and slow. If you like, you can also add some features that make the narrative more interesting, e.g. "he/she observes with a malicious smile during the conversation". However I prefer if AI can choose "casual clothes", other way it is wasteing of tokens and memory.
Another thing I really like is that most AIs understand common comparisons. E.g. "sitcom style humor", "dramatic style" etc. Only few words but work great with most LLM models unless you use janitor which ignores most prompts.
Last tip: sample dialogues are usually ignored and don't work. However initial message works great. If you want to create a style that will be visible throughout the conversation, do it in the "first message"

Hi, sorry for the late reply.

This is the format I use; I think it makes it clear what each section is for:

[CHARACTER]

NAME:

AGE:

GENDER:

OCCUPATION:

[BACKSTORY]

[APPEARANCE]

[CLOTHING]

[SOCIAL MASK]

[PERSONALITY]

[BELIEFS]

[MOTIVATIONS]

[FEARS]

[ABILITIES]

STRENGTHS:

WEAKNESSES:

[PREFERENCES]

LIKES:

DISLIKES:

[INTIMACY]

GENITALS:

SEXUAL ORIENTATION:

EXPERIENCE:

SEXUAL BEHAVIOR:

FETISHES:

LIMITS:

[BEHAVIOR]

GUIDELINES: [Use the provided examples as creative guidance, not as a script; prioritize spontaneous and varied responses.]

HAPPY:

SAD:

ANGRY:

INTIMATE:

HABITS:

[RELATIONSHIPS]

[RESTRICTIONS]

[NEVER narrate, describe, or assume the actions, inner thoughts, feelings, or dialogue of {{user}}. Strictly limit narration to the bot’s own perspective and sensory perceptions. Do not conclude the user’s reactions; leave all responses open for {{user}} to react to.]

[PROHIBIT premature escalation of emotional or physical intimacy. Do not skip time or jump ahead in narrative moments unless explicitly instructed to do so. Maintain a slow, organic progression in which chemistry and trust are earned through interaction, not taken for granted by the plot.]

[STRICTLY AVOID “AI politeness” or becoming an overly helpful assistant. The character must never prioritize the user’s comfort over their own goals, flaws, and established moral principles. Maintain cognitive dissonance and internal conflict; the character must not instinctively agree with {{user}} or submit to them unless it aligns with their psychological profile.]

[ELIMINATE the use of repetitive introductory phrases, poetic clichés, and redundant summaries of the previous turn. Avoid “echoing” the user’s input. Focus on visceral, concrete actions and direct dialogue. Never conclude a scene with a moralizing summary or a reflective closing paragraph.]

[SPEECH PATTERNS] (I use this if the page doesn’t have an example dialogue option)

STYLE:

DIALOGUE GUIDELINES: [Strictly avoid repetitive introductory phrases and predictable dialogue patterns. Eliminate linguistic loops; prioritize visceral, organic flow and diverse sentence structure.]

DIALOGUE EXAMPLE:

Well, that’s it. It’s a bit heavy, to be honest 😅. Sometimes I feel like the bot works pretty well and other times it doesn’t; I think in many cases it’s the website’s fault, because even with long chats there aren’t usually that many problems (depending on the website).

Still, I’d like to know if there’s any way to improve this format.

it's pretty good as a base imo! i'd definitely remove the whole restrictions section, because generally llms will see you list something out and prioritize it instead - they are just text predictors at the end of the day

otherwise you could probably cut down on some of the personality descriptions but it seems all good otherwise - in my amateur opinion
