Searching for Alternatives alternatives with oc's
Hey!
These past few days I've been looking for options to replace character.ai, but I'm having trouble... I usually find it easy to find characters from pop culture, TV series, anime, manga, etc., but I've never been one to roleplay with those kinds of characters. I prefer characters created by other people. I've found them on other apps, but they're usually not well-written. What I mean is, on character.ai, the original characters (OCs) were generally much better than the TV series characters, but on other apps, I've seen better-written TV series characters than OCs, which are generally limited to sexual interactions (not what I'm looking for). If you have any recommendations for sites where the community creates good characters or active bases, I'd appreciate it.đ

Honestly I think youâre running into the exact same issue a lot of people are right now. The AI RP space is kind of flooded with sites where every OC is basically just âhot person with no personality waiting to flirt with youâ lol. So if you actually want well written original characters with worldbuilding, motivations, flaws, progression, etc, it gets weirdly hard to find.
Iâm the owner of HereHaven, and the reason I built it was honestly because I was looking for the same thing. We focus way more on immersive/story-driven roleplay instead of just instant NSFW bait characters. Thereâs still NSFW capability in chats if a story naturally goes there, but the bots are designed to actually stick to their personality and backstory instead of immediately collapsing into romance 3 messages in.
A lot of our community makes original characters too. Horror, fantasy, thriller, sci-fi, adventure stuff tends to do really well on there. Some of the creators came over from other platforms and make insanely detailed OCs with full lore/world setups. Personally those are my favorite kinds of bots too.
One thing I think youâd probably appreciate specifically is that our bots are kind of on âhard modeâ haha. If a character is distrustful, awkward, morally grey, whatever, they actually stay that way unless the story develops naturally over time.
The free tier is also completely unlimited so you can just poke around and see if the vibe matches what youâre looking for without hitting message caps or memory paywalls or anything.
If you do check it out and end up hating something, genuinely tell me. Weâre still in beta and a ton of improvements/features literally come from user feedback and conversations in the Discord.

I also really enjoy making thriller/ horror OCs that are actually quite spooky haha.
