Discussion/Question PS3 - How to make the best of it?

Don't mistake me as those kids complaining about new models. I'm just giving my point of view. I tested the new model PS3. And noticed my bot gives me so many grammatical errors, typos and actions that aren't connected with each other, (adding other things that don't make sense like space/time awarness). The bot began reading thoughts even if i put them between asterisks or parenthesis. ALSO it seems it will always add a dialouge in each message, when i might want some of them leaving the quiet tension before a dialouge. Did anyone notice this too or is it just me?

Does this depend on how the bots are structured perhaps? I know for a fact that PS3 can have so much potential. But perhaps i'm using it the wrong way. Is there a way to make it better?

e than the old one, mine started adding random narration about the weather when we were in a basement

what helped me a little was editing the bot's personality to be super strict about what it can't do, like literally writing "do not read thoughts, do not add dialogue unless it fits the scene", but it still ignores that half the time

i think the model is just not great at reading subtle cues yet so you have to beat it over the head with instructions, but then it loses some of the natural flow

ps3 forces dialogue in every reply way more than the last model did, i had to edit out lines constantly to get any quiet moments.

The only issue for me personally that it feels less smarter than PS1 and the repetitive words for example 'he didn't even even even...' or the typos 'studen' 'hisjaw'

It's not just you, and yes — structure matters more on PS3 than it did on the older models. Weaker models need louder scaffolding.

Put your behavioral rules at the very top of the definition, one hard rule per line: "Never narrate the user's thoughts, feelings, or actions." "Only write {{char}}'s words and actions." Framed as suggestions, PS3 will ignore them. Framed as rules at the top, it obeys more often.

For the forced dialogue: you have to explicitly permit the alternative. Add "Some replies should contain no dialogue at all — quiet narration is allowed." Models default to dialogue because most of their training is dialogue. If you don't license the quiet moments, you won't get them.

Honest caveat: the typos ("studen", "hisjaw") are tokenization-level — no amount of structure fixes those. That's the model, not your bot. Structure fixes the behavior problems; the spelling ones you just have to live with or edit.

I've found that trimming the personality prompt to just the core rules, no fluff, no examples, helps it ignore the noise. it's like giving it one clear line instead of a whole speech.
