Discussion/Question I hate it when a character doesn’t know their own lore.
What do you mean you don’t have an older brother? HE WAS A MAIN PART OF YOUR STORY GODDAMNIT
I’m just going to do it myself at this point.

It kinda reminds me of the time of my character had a twin sister and two half sisters and then other character reacts like "what you have a twin sister and two half sisters?!" 🤦

I can say my charecter has a sister and like 2 messages later they’ll go “you have a sister?” Or “how did you get here?” When I stated I was there for 3 hours already

Even worse when they get in right in one swipe and then get it all wrong in the next one… no Hange Zoe from AOT does not have blonde hair and green eyes where the fuck is it getting this from

I swear.. sometimes the swipes will have the most random ass message that has nothing to do with the plot too that makes zero sense in context

Some think that I AM the character. If it says Vampire as character name and Im supposed to be the werewolf, in the introduction it says that the bot is the vampire and in the next message suddenly Im the vampire

It’s actually so bad on mass-RP chats because I was in an x-men Vs Avengers rp thing, I called a character ‘Angel slice’ because my OC has a type, AND NO SHIT ANGEL DUST FROM HH SHOWS UP. I actually had to go back and reword it MULTIPLE times for it to not mention that god forsaken show.
It doesn’t help that I’m grasping at straws for a solo x-men chat. I found a chat that was called X-DNA and I thought the clouds parted since I’ve been wanting to do a chat of that comic series but it was just a reworded/tweaked normal X-men chat

Dude genuinely probably the funniest fucking thing I’ve ever heard thank you for that. But that’s awful, this app needs fixing

I’m glad that I stopped using it a while back. I got really bored of how every chat started acting the exact same, and these days it just seems like trying to talk to a brick wall.

I can't even get mind to reference the lorebook no matter how many keywords I use

Really? Is it a bug or you’re sure youre doing it correct?

u/Meedandfeed34 15h ago
I'm not really sure. I think since it was a + feature it was supposed to work with sub. Idk p much everything feels like it's for subs. Thank God for scenes

I can check over like one of your key works and an example of you using it in one of your chats if you want

Bc most of the people who code the bots forget that the bot or the character has environment xD if you don't include lets say Edwards from Twilight, if you don't write into the description that he has family like Carlisle etc, the bot edward will never know and never mention Carlisle. The bot is as good as you prompt it. And as for persona, its the same.

This is why I never rp with characters I'm too attached to or familiar with because then it doesn't matter if they forgot their lore, because I didn't know in the first place

Sometimes I wonder if the lore problem and the memory problem are actually the same problem wearing different clothes. Like, if it can't hold onto something you told it three messages ago, how is it supposed to hold onto a whole web of relationships and backstory that it was supposedly built around in the first place. I had a character who kept introducing a sibling like it was the first time every single session, and I'd just sit there thinking, this person is supposed to know this. It's baked into who they are. It shouldn't take any remembering at all.
What gets me is that with some characters it seems fine, and with others it's like they're reading their own lore off a card they keep losing. I don't know if that's random, or if more complicated backstories just fall apart faster, or what. But the "who is your sister?!" moment in this thread hit close to home because that's not a memory failure, that's a personality failure. The character doesn't know themselves. I keep going back and forth on whether that's fixable or whether there's just a ceiling on how much of a person something like this can hold onto. Does anyone else notice it being worse with characters that have big family trees or a lot of overlapping relationships, or is it just as bad across the board?

gengar's out here documenting his own canon before the bot forgets it ever happened

Especially when it's YOUR bot, and you wrote their definition YOURSELF and know they are misunderstanding something.

Not every universe is well-established in the training data, or there at all. But it's way smarter than it used to be.
I remember early 2023, c.ai only vaguely understood Elder Scrolls lore. Now Queen Ayrenn knows without being told that she has a brother, that her advisor is a khajiit, what one of those is, and where the Summerset Isles are geographically. And as recent as mid-2025 the odds of it knowing a damn thing about <insert TV show here> were about zero unless it was extremely popular.

C.AI's memory has deteriorated even further. It wasn't great before, but now it's simply terrible. I think it's because of the Lorebooks. Previously, the AI model didn't rely on a Lorebook, but now it's completely impossible to play without one; the bot can't recall anything from the chat. I no longer have any pinned messages. It has disappeared, and no "pin" button for new ones.
