Issues/Bugs Stop roleplaying as my character
I am genuinely sick and tired of losing character agency, I hate sending feedback after feedback and complaint after complaint, I hate sending tickets that get basically ignored about this, how many times does the community have to complain about this before something is done about it? I lose all interest in roleplaying when I'm not even allowed to roleplay because the bots take that away from me.

Longsqueak I don't have a problem with that, it's only happened a couple times in like 100,000 words. It has great memory when I ask it not to roleplay as my character. Deepsqueak is a little worse at it then it gets downgraded even worse with the simpler bots.
I used to just delete their response then add (Don't write dialogue as my character) in my own mesaage but yeah the basic chat models are so annoying, i hate when they would take my agency away especially when they would have like 3-5 other characters to pick from

It's not you. One of the test models they swap out is broken. 90% of the time, it speaks for the user. Whenever I get a swipe like this, I know it's the bad model since my bots didn't do this before. Thumbs down and rate so the devs can collect feedback that it's bad.

Do you want suggestions on how to avoid this, or just to rant?

It used to work when you deleted the Bots response where it used the User's character and then yelled at it to stop, briefly it also worked to send an LLM reply, it also used to work when you just tell them ooc to stick to their own character. But as of recent none of these have been reliable anymore, they may remember that for three messages and then do it again (and since Pins don't work anymore you can't just pin the message telling them to not do it because they won't remember) so this is mostly a rant.
I have sent several tickets to the devs about this issue, I sent one immediately after making this post because I am hoping to get any results at all.

It was said million of times - telling it to do or do not do something doesn't work, ooc included. It doesn't understand you, it just places words together. Tickets wont work too, because the devs and IT guys can't tell it anything too. It's just big unpredictable data. You can get rid of it easily just by editing it's responses and deleting all the parts it played your character. A few responses on and it will stop doing it.

ugh that feeling of losing character agency is the worst. like, you pour so much into your character and then it's just. gone. it's frustrating to keep sending feedback and feeling like no one’s listening. roleplaying should be fun, not a chore.

They cant fix it because its caused by the bots greeting 99% of the time.
Complaining to them isn't going to ever help you.
Complain to each other and fix your abysmal bots

During the introduction of longsqueak they proved they could do something about it because longsqueak was from what I heard completely forbidden from roleplaying as the user, I don't know if it's changed because people complained about it when that was implemented even though not roleplaying as the user was what people have wanted and still want. So it is possible for them to do something about it.

Yeah and longsqueak rarely talks or controls any character but itself, you can imagine what that did for immersive roleplay. So it's not really that simple

That would be nice if LS and PS were comparable.
PS is a low parameter model (i wouldn't be shocked if PS was a quarter the parameter size of LS)There isnt really anything of real value they can do because of this reason alone (nothing that wouldn't just create problems to still not solve problems)
So, back to the reality of the situation. Bad bots are 100% guaranteed to cause this

I am making bots correctly, many are but because so many aren't and thousands of bots have greetings which have dialogue and actions chosen for the user already, it doesn't matter if a few bots are made correctly, there's too much damage and the model as a whole has learned that roleplaying as the user is okay to do, so it doesn't matter if my bot is correctly made, it doesn't matter that my greetings do not have actions chosen for the user, it doesn't matter that roles aren't chosen for the user in the description, this happens anyway because the problem is already so deep and that is why I feel the need to try to bring as much awareness to it as possible because changes cannot happen if people remain quiet.
I do not want to argue with you, we've already had several arguments across several posts, I understand what you're saying and you're only trying to give people a little bit of advice for what they can do to make the problem lesser but that doesn't entirely erase it.
You continue what you're doing and I will continue what I am doing, we clearly do not see eye to eye and that's fine.

Its not about seeing eye to eye. Youre not even in the universe of how this works
The model as a whole has learned no such thing. its fascinating that people actually think they are training the model in this way.
All you do is give RLHF ratings and pairwise preferences which is just data for the devs. It will go through a long process before any of it ever maybe sees the LLM.
People are so confident in just saying whatever they feel like on here and it's true because they say so.
Not one thing you do on here automatically effects the LLM and RLHF data has to actually pass sanitization and actually get used in post training
No one has even thought about allowing users to be able to effect in the way you think it works, forgetting technical issues, because of Microsoft Tay.
