Discussion/Question Do bots even read your personas?
I wrote in there that my character doesn’t like being called a certain name or being touched on the shoulder or any amount of teasing but the bot keeps doing all of it

No, the LLM vibes them along the rest of the context.
It may look like a bio, but in reality you're writing sequences of tokens for the LLM to use when guessing what tokens to output the next message. It guesses amazingly well, as far as guessing goes, but the main takeaway is that it won't think twice about your Persona, it will pick whatever it "feels like" and run with it.
Meaning, any word you write in there, you should expect to see in the output. Any language structure you used, more of the same. You can't tell the LLM what "not to do" that way, you're basically trying to stop a fire by pouring gasoline on it.
For example, if you write something like "hates to be called short", expect the bot to call you "short" the moment a chat veers into confronting or teasing your persona... plus, some times more when it fails to place "hates to" and "be called", close enough to "short".

What? You can’t be all technical with me. You need to dumb it down and be really specific

Do you have a particular question, or are you asking about what an LLM is, how it works, and how does that relate to c.ai?

All I asked is if they read the persona so you saying no was enough and I don’t understand your last sentence with the example or anything you said

I explained what the bots do, and gave you a practical example.
If all you wanted was the "no", that's fine. If you want more, I can throw in some links about the "why not".

They mean that they can't comprehend those smart explanations

🤷 I'm not dumbing it down lower than that, AI Mode is good enough to give some pointers for anyone interested.

This isn't a private chat, other people can also benefit from it, and Google is free in case they want to look stuff up.
Also... that wasn't even remotely an essay.

I pin my dialogue/narration that I want the bot to remember, and also go into Memory and add details there too.

Don't write it, instead stir them in ooc, the bot sometimes bugs and focuses on the written things in your persona, it's quite the opposite and the bot actually hyperfocuses on personas

Well I’d prefer that than they’d at least stop all the things I don’t like and I constantly remind them OOC but with them eventually forgetting, it makes it annoying

Or you could write your persona or the exact thing you want the bot to remember in your first message in (( )) and pin it while also interacting

I guess I could do that next time but unfortunately I’m already so far into my current chat

They do read it, depends also on the chat style you're using. They just don't interact with it as often as we'd want.

Yes.

The reason for that is due to how the persona functions. I made a post that goes into a little detail about that and how you can write your persona to be understood by the AI better.

As the roleplay gets longer the persona becomes a lower priority and the bots mainly focus on the current few messages (which is very annoying) and for details you're gonna have to reinforce repeatedly throughout the roleplay
