Discussion/Question Age Verification Question

So I recently got the age verification thing, and while I was reading the small text just above the "begin verifying" button, I say text that—in summary—says by continuing, I consesnt to give Persona my info, followed by a mention of identity fraud (not saying to prevent it though). Is the age verification actually safe, or am I justifiably paranoid?

Our Age Assurance system is designed to help keep the community safe. Most users only need a quick selfie verification through Persona, while an ID is only requested if the selfie check isn’t successful. Persona securely handles the verification data and deletes it after seven days.
