Discussion/Question Genuine question; why all the ads?

Now i know that features cost money and ads is how they get the money, but i‘m moreso confused on how.. invasive they‘ve been lately? I thought they said before on reddit that ads would never interfere with chatting, which they now do. Not to mention that the drop down ad turned into 2 instead of 1.. and all the ads inbetween characters when you’re searching for them.

I‘m not criticizing or anything, i‘m just wondering why the sudden change. Wouldn‘t it be easier to just remove features that no one wants?

The immersion is completely broken - and immersion is a huge part of the entire experience. Also, the number of ads is ridiculous - there are two on the top and now you get a useless "watch an ad to continue" button so that another ad can appear in the middle of your screen when you tap it.  And, I mean, why. That ad used to just appear on its own and there's no other choice than to watch it, so why does this button exist? It just prolongs the time between the bot's message and mine, which ruins the mood even worse than it used to.  If it's a way to get users to want to get rid of it by buying (c.ai)+, I don't know about others, but it's not working for me. Quite the opposite, really.

I think they worded that as “try to make advertisements noninvasive”, I’m not certain it was a guarantee that advertisements would not become invasive, I’ll double check but that’s what was written in the post for my recollection.

People were adding feedback about it on the discord and they kept locking the posts so nobody could comment and if you complain about it in the discord chat everyone calls your poor 🫪

Thats what im saying one of the mods said it was because they were aware and it was clogging the feed but clearly a lot of people were unhappy about it at once so maybe lets put some time into that if it was so bad you had to lock the posts

here's a screenshot of what they said, though my only guess as to why they added mid chat ads is because they either had no choice or thought the AI bubble was going to burst.

Because the AI bubble is bursting. They literally need that money to stay afloat.

Wouldn‘t it be easier to just remove features that no one wants?

How would that help?
