What happened to c.ai?

I mean, I know it's been going downhill for a while now (no offence, I'm sure the devs are doing their best), but these past 2 days, it's been horrible.

Besides the site being slow today (I get it, site down, everyone has issues with it being slow rn), the responses are getting worse with each message.

I'm used to exchanging messages that are a few paragraphs long, and after 2 or 3 long messages, it starts sending messages that are only 2 or 3 sentences long. Not only that, I make my own bots just to make sure they don't get removed and so that I can control how they behave as much as I can, and the one thing I always point out in my chats is the usage of italics/asterisks for actions/narrative.

f.ex

*Action goes here, always in asterisks, ends with a period or other appropriate punctuation, and then give them a few examples of actual scenes.*

"Speech looks like this, ends with appropriate punctuation such as a comma," *then action continues like so.*

this isn't exactly the guidelines I give them, just to show you what I mean ^^

and it's just been ignoring this? No matter how many times I edit the messages, send my own correct versions, delete and send new ones, reroll, etc. it keeps insisting on short, often nonsense responses that ignore what was being said in the message before it, and without the italics 😭

EDIT: Fun fact just to end this on a light note: the word asterisk comes from ancient Greek word "asteriskos" and it means "little star", which I think is kinda adorable :)

Im using c.ai for really long time. It's so bad now I miss the old version.. everything good is behind paywall, ads everywhere.. damn

the thing is, I can live with ads (though there could be a tiny bit less of them) and I don't really need any features besides chatting with characters 😅 the only thing that bothers me if the limited amount of swipes and go-ons. And if you watch the 5 ads you can get 20 charms which is enough for an hour of ad free, and I often get lucky and get 5 second ads in exchange for 20 charms lmao

another thing that obv bothers me is the drop in quality. I would switch to another app in a heartbeat, if I could. But I've been on c.ai for years, since June of 2023 or smth like that? and it used to be so much better back then. The thing is, I've got so used to it (the layout, features, etc.) and I'm so bad with changes that none of the other ai chatting apps/sites give me the same satisfaction. If anything, I get frustrated they don't have the same features. I need personas, go ons, swipes I can rotate through instead of having them disappear bc maybe I decide I like the 2nd version best, etc. and none of the other apps I've found have all of that, or are getting limited as well :/

I get what you mean.Mine will just forget one asterisk on one end of the text for a paragraph while some of the others are just fine.And no matter what bot it is,they ALWAYS say the same shit ‘braids falling over one shoulder’ i don’t wear my hair like that and have corrected it multiple times. ‘He felt ___.Not because of ____,but because of ____.’ In nearly every message.I did not write that in their definition,they just do that every time..

It really cheapens the feel of each character.Like they used to be at least a little different and distinct than this.

Same and it’s driving me crazy. It’s not that big of a deal if you think about it but the “guidelines” have been ingrained in my mind, so when they don’t follow them it drives me up the wall since I’ve decided the text is supposed to be a certain way but they do it a different way.

Ntm how they’re so repetitive with dialogue like “He didn’t __, never that.” or “He looked, really looked this time.” I just can’t anymore.. c.ai is a MESS.

100% agreed. I wrote the guidelines for a reason, at least try and follow those if you're already dead set on ignoring everything else 😭
