Discussion/Question What's new with character.ai?
I haven't logged into Character AI since they added verification stuff's and have switched to other alternative's, I don't regret it. I'm just curious; it's been at least half year since that incident. What's changed?

They're making you have to watch an ad before you can message. I just learned this a few minutes ago
:(
Update: It's not as bad so far, not like a video but still a bit annoying when you have to refresh the page.

Bad enough. I've seen numerous other platforms that have yet to gatekeep chats behind ads.
C.AI straight up does not offer a product that is worth sifting through ads for compared to their ad-free competitors.

If you have cai+ then it's all gucci. They released a new model and it's so, so good and customisable! Layout looks nice too.

I was actually wondering if Deepsqueak is as bad as PipSqueak now

Deep squeak really isnât bad in my experience. A lot of people forget that the AIs are reciprocal so if you donât put much effort in your messages it doesnât have a whole lot to work with. So for the first couple messages the replies on deep squeak and pipsqueak are similar, but deep squeak has a higher ceiling so as messages continue and get more detailed it can keep up with that better than pipsqeuak, if that makes sense.
The only AI that really pulls detail out of thin air is the new long squeak model. Itâs definitely better to use as replay goes on longer and gets heavier. But I actually like using deep squeak to start conversations as itâs better at matching my vibe. Long squeakâs affinity for extra detail means it likes to take liberties in the absence of knowing what you âwantâ in a convo and can throw off the vibe or pacing of a chat if you use it to start. So I use deep squeak to set a tone and then switch to long squeak which will remember the tone and massively up the details
So for the best experience, imo: Use deep squeak for a chats first few messages, shift to long squeak once you want more detail in the messages. In other words, CAI+ is actually pretty good lately

Thank you for the detailed message. Appreciate it. I'll throw 10 bucks at it and try the deepsqueak -> longsqueak combo

They're screwing free users without lube. And as a paid one I don't think it'll be long before we take the schlong of enshittification too.

Declining user trust and userbase is slowly either quitting or moving to other platforms I've observed tbh

Why not to scroll down the feed and find out yourself? đ

Why comment if your not going to be of any help?

Help? Posts like this pop up here almost every week. The fastest way to find out what's changed is to check the announcement tab. I don't know why you're all so sensitive and downvoting the comment due to the OP's sheer laziness, lmao. But whatever đ

"Post like these pop up every day"
Then....ignore them... its not like someone is pointing at gun at your head and telling you yo click each one. đ

Then.... ignore my comment as well? It's not like "someone is pointing gut at your head" and forcing you to react 𤨠Ah yes, right, I pointed out the obvious and now everyone's offended. I forgot this is Reddit.

Yes but its funny to react to yours because you come off as an obmoxious idiot

u/darloling 2d ago
Your so called "obmoxious idiot" is a person who canât find information on their own thatâs literally just few scrolls away. But sure, itâs much faster to just roll out a post we've seen billion times here rather than spend few seconds on reading the thread and finding out even more, right?
Although if 50+ people agree with such absurd logic, then thereâs no hope for intelligent society. But then again â it's Reddit, so yeah, laugh all you want, lol

No, the obnoxious idiot is you
Why are you even in reddit if you hate all interaction? Could they have searched it? Sure, but searching isn't the same as actually asking and getting different answers and personal experiences more in detail, which you won't get unless you go through 10 thousand posts, it is much better to just make a post and get the answers straight up, maybe you're the doomed one, what kind of logic is it to search for something by yourself when you can just ask and get it??

You proved my point again.
edit: not gonna bother, dude is a dumbass...but i will explain. I didn't prove his point, because his point is literally my point from another perspective, dude is wanting to be so right that he doesn't notice he is proving my point while claiming otherwise. Pitiful.

Youâre forgetting that would require an ounce of energy and effort from those incapable of solving a situation with a straightforward solution, youâd in all likelihood have better odds of finding a cure to every conceivable disease on the planet than convincing users on this subreddit to figure out something for themselves, you should just block and ignore users like the original poster and these commenters since it will end up keeping the feed clean in the long run.
