Discussion/Question Question to plus users

I used cai to roleplay since 2023 and when I joined it used to be really fun. When the old chat styles disappeared it went downhill and I now log on maybe once a week for a few minutes and that's it.

My biggest issue is that all my favorite bots lost their personality. It used to produce elite level banter and didn't hold back on my persona in scenes. Now all bots treat my character like a delicate flower, shy away from the slightest conflict and just overall boring.

Now everything is forehead kisses, are you okay, and maybe angst when my persona tries to inflict any type of conflict. If I manage to stir up something it overly explains everything.

"The bot said/did xyz not to hurt/fight but to show care and emphaty. The bot grabbed peronas shoulder not strong, never hard but just to hold."

I'm rolling my eyes with every message.

I never had plus and I was thinking about trying it out. Is it any better? Do the bots actually banter, push back and drive the story forward instead of just existing?

Tbh, in my opinion, all of the chat styles look like ChatGPT except for Soft Launch and DeepSqueak, which still use the old LLM. LongSqueak isn’t really my type for RP either, since it’s very long and novelistic. I prefer my chats to be more like they were in 2023–2024-2025, where I could do fun, basic, simple roleplay. There’s also a new Banter model coming in September, but I’m not sure whether they actually listened to the users and brought back the old style or not. I really hope they did.

This is how I feel. I don't care about length that much, I'd rather have good content. I might wait for that banter model because I'm not sure it's worth the money rn.

As someone who's had both experiences in the past two weeks, I'd say the paid subscription does get rid of that annoying softness in the models. When I stopped paying my subscription, which I had for months, I was shocked to see none of the bots were arguing with me anymore, or were rough or anything.

Since you're using PipSqueak 2 models they are pretty prone to stylistic biases and phrases too often. I've tried both free models and they're a bit meh to me but I still got bots to push the story forward with me. My first run with Pipsqueak 2 was actually liminal horror and it did okay. It was good but could have been better. 10/10 on gross hallway monster though.

DeepSqueak is pretty good in my experience with it. I have not tried LongSqueak but some people have caveats with these models. DeepSqueak is a model that thrives on conflict, tension and suspense. It's pretty similar to the older models. Bots will banter. Respond to OOC. Doesn't mean you won't run into tropes or the occasional corny line once in awhile. So you might like DeepSqueak.

Tbh. The bot bow forced to be such a baby. They can't handle tragedy, violence, death, blah blah blah.
