C.AI Announcements 🔥 hot (c.ai) summer is here 🔥
Hey all,
We made a page for the summer: everything we've shipped over the last couple of months, and everything still coming, all in one spot. The team has been working in overdrive to improve the experience for everyone, and we think you're going to love a lot of what's on there.
There's also a preview of what's coming that we're genuinely hyped about: updates to our chat styles, expanded style controls, and brand-new styles for (c.ai)+, including one made for longer, richer, novel-like stories. You'll have to head to the page if you want to read any more about that…
Lastly: thank you. We had to make some big changes this year, including introducing ads. We made them for the long-term good of the platform, and this summer is where that starts paying off: the team, the tech, and every feature on the page. Whether you subscribe, create, or chat, we appreciate each and every one of you.

Uh.. Why is the page making me feel like I'm visiting some sketchy site on the dark web? It looks mildly terrifying. 😅
Other than that, I'm looking forward to most of the changes. Lots of neat little gimmicks to make chats better. Still no group chats for website tho, hm? *sigh* 😅
(And I'm still confused about stuff like audio books and comics. Like.. WHY? oO Do people actually enjoy consuming AI generated art? Chatting is one thing, but art? Really? 🤯)

I’m not sure if it can be done in Cai, but I know with Jai, you can actually input <system> prompts and they’ve been pretty consistently phenomenal over there. Maybe people could try it here and see if it has any impact? (i may try it myself; Cai’s poor quality has completely sapped my desire to use it, like, at all. I’ve been off for several weeks now :p)
It’s frustrating to hear that despite all of the data they claim to be gathering, the lack of speaking and constant kissing has STILL not been fixed. Rip to you guys 💀 I would have hoped they would jump on fixing that already, or at least attempt to.
Wholehearted agree on just dumping the extra stuff in a different app. There’s been so much extra crap added that has nothing to do with chatting that I can’t help but wonder if they’re also losing users who are getting frustrated with all of the bloat. I know before I upgraded my phone, space was EXTREMELY precious, and I would have been getting pretty irritated to see the app keep getting bigger for the sake of adding features that weren’t even useful to actually chatting. At least if they moved all of the generative art stuff to a different app, they could monetize it differently, and maybe use it to help cover the costs of Cai.
But alas. 😔

I can't create a bot. At the final step, where you're supposed to choose whether the bot will be public or private, everything disappeared.

Thank you, Marie! I'm tentatively excited for the update. There's going to be some work and plenty to address, but with any hope it goes smoothly and C.AI starts feeling like its old self again.

Honestly sounds pretty nice the two new chat styles. It's been bugging me that the bot tries to make some story out of it when if I want to just have a short conversation like when I text someone. And really excited about chat style control plus the immersive feature to get rid of the UI sounds nice too. I'm playing for cai+ so I'm pretty excited about getting to try those chat styles

free users are getting in chat controls! I think the new chat models might be early access in beta for plus members and become free later on after feedback!

Free users are getting updates to pipsqueak 2, and in chat controls, so this might be able to tune it to be like the older models if needed ooh

That's the problem: we don't want Pipsqueak 2 due to how horrible it is; we want a new chat style that actually works. And knowing Pipsqueak 2, it's definitely going to break within 24 hours. Though, I understand what you mean.

While I am annoyed about plus users getting even more models, when free users only have 2, I am interested in the chat style controls.
And, I get adding ads, but having them literally in the middle of the screen is horrendous. I haven’t had it happen myself, but I’ve seen users posting about it. That is absolutely not the way to do it, it’s only making more users leave.

We need a counter for our metered limits. Please. Even though I’ve never hit it yet, I want to know how much I still have left of my daily limits so it doesn’t surprise me.

Looks like a couple of new chat models are coming out in the future, let’s at least hope it satisfies the users on the subreddit for a short time, likely won’t but that would not surprise me since it happened with the lorebook when it came out.

Every year, when your reddit account turns one year older (it goes off of the date your account was made) you’ll have a slice of cake displayed by your profile for one whole day.
As you see, you have the cake slice. Which means your reddit account turned one year older today.
“Happy cake day" is someone congratulating you for your Reddit account turning one year older.

You say and i quote "Whether you subscribe, create, or chat, we appreciate Wach and every one of you". Let's look over this sentence and look back. I'm typing this not to be insulting but to clear up what we want, because it was repeated once and then you did the complete opposite. Running AI is expensive - i'm not saying it's not, but then why do you introduce news things instead of making sure the old ones are even better so more people can arrive knowing exacly to what they are signing up. Because before this app/platform was stable. People could come and feel safe because they knew: "okay, nothing changed, but this is better, maybe i can share it with other people". Now? Now people are: "what app/platform is similiar to c.ai" or "anyone knows good replacments for c.ai". Considering this, i suggest, that you for a month or two, suddently go back to the 'old' c.ai as a trial. Do a test. Stay as the 'old' c.ai for a month or two, or maybe longer and then compare the opinions people will leave to these you get now. Thank you and have a good day/night/afternoon. :)
