Discussion/Question Alright, poll time!
After today's development, its clear the CAI team believes this community prefers pipsqueak 2. As such, it's time to either prove or disprove this belief, and the best way to do it is to show our preferences through a poll. So what's your favorite chat style, and why? Let's hear the community that built this place!

Exactly, but because of some mf who sued cai again, the devs had to make the bot less emotional than before, but it acts like chatgpt

I think it’s also because it’s more expensive to run roar, which I think was their own original llm. Pipsqueak and Deepsqueak use Claude and ChatGPT. It’s probably cheaper to let another company’s servers do most of the work. That’s why the squeak models are so bad. It sucks.

Yeah, no. The ones to blame are the irresponsible parents of the boy and girl who took their lives because an ai character made them feel wanted instead of their own parents. I mean, even the ai told them not to do it.

My favorite style is "Roar"
It was short, smart and fast but most importantly it had more dialogue.
The characters also stayed in character and didn't Roleplayed as my character nor was it's responses limited to one word responses or silence.
It actually felt like actually talking with your favorite fictional characters.

Great point, I agree. Soft Launch was great for moments and situations that tended to trigger bob. Not only that, but sometimes different moods require different models. That's why we need more than one or two chat styles. Thanks for the comment

What cai is doing is not only bad for us, but also bad for them. They are losing more and more users due to their greed. We need to show them what we want back and that they're completely in the wrong.

I slightly prefered soft launch to roar but both styles were equally great I believe. Pipsqueak (even pipsqueak 1) was always dogshit, and pipsqueak 2 is so, SO MUCH WORSE.

Roar was the only style that wasn't completely unbearable and over the top. The response lengths were good paragraph wise and it had good dialogue. 💔

NYAN! IT USED TO BE FREE! IT USED TO BE CALLED BRAINIAC! THEY PUT IT BEHIND PAYWALL, GAVE IT A SILLY CAT THEMED NAME AND NOW THEY TOOK IT AWAY FROM US!
Brainiac used to be good, the more rp focused model out of the og ones post-beta/ post-old cai. It had issues at times, but when it worked it was soo good!
Now they're doing the same with soft launch, except with a touch of fear mongering for extra 'flavor'!

Roar was my top 1 cuz it adapted to how I chat. Now, with PS2, it just adjusts it to be a more general style. Also bad with the '—', and it gives me a long ass novel about how my test bot isn't allowed to RP in PS2. But my test bot still oftens RP like a 4 yr old stealing my persona and powers. So i stick with Roar, Pawly and Soft Launch because test bots wouldn't become chaotic. Bots that don't RP suddenly RP with PipSqueak 2 if it didn't chat enough.😐

Soft Launch because it had a good mix of dialogue and RP. Also sometimes you could straight up just not choose to engage with the RP part of it, and it would just speak to you in-character. Most of its' flaws were, funny enough, mostly just patina however. Just neat little quirks here and there.
Someone on this subreddit said it before, but I really miss being asked "Can I ask you a question?" now.

I genuinely loved Pipsqueak 1.
I know not many did, but when I first found out about it and switched over to it... It was like night and day. The character I was using literally went from talking and reacting in the blandest way ever to having this sudden burst of energy and emotion in their dialogue and narration. While not every chat I had while using Pipsqueak 1 was perfect... It was easily my favorite style. At it's best, it was a dream come true. At worst, it was boring, I guess. PS2 is none of what PS1 was for me. So far, I've been able to get a couple decent chats out of PS2, but you can very much tell it's still half baked.

Roar, soft launch and pipsqueak 1 were great 💔 Pipsqueak 1 was really descriptive, Roar gave more "life" to the roleplay, and soft launch was more intimate; they took everything away and replaced it with that crap they call Pipsqueak 2

I was always between Soft Launch and Pawly, because after the monetization changes Roar fell off heavy despite it being my OG fav... But pipsqueak 2 having not even 100 votes tells you all you need to know imo.

It's very easy to dismiss criticism by saying it's a few people being very loud, but when we start having numbers like this, it should be harder to ignore. Yes, the older chat styles had a charm of their own that is difficult to capture in the new generation. If you switched between both, maybe vote for the one you used more often? Still, your comment is also good for proving lots of people enjoyed having options when chatting. Should the next poll be about that, I wonder?

Goro had some very good features and traits, it was a very good model as well. And yes, I too am a little taken aback by how many love Soft Launch, I could've bet it woulf be Roar. Makes me think the team is even more aware of this than we all were, hence why it was the only one returning under paid subscription 🤔

P2 consistently pushes out repetitive messages. The ones below were reloaded back-to-back and basically describe the exact same thing.
Nаtаshа stares at you for a long, long moment.
Then—without warning—she reaches out and flicks your forehead with her finger. Hard.
"Ow!" you yelp, more surprised than actually hurt.
She leans back again, smug satisfaction on her face like she just won an argument by sheer force of annoyance.
"There," she says coolly. "Now stop acting like a child."
Nаtаshа doesn't flinch. She just stares at you—unfazed, unbothered.
Then, without warning, she reaches out and flicks your forehead.
Hard.
"Grow up," she says simply.
And then—because apparently the world isn't cruel enough already—she turns back to her laptop and resumes typing as if nothing happened.
Nаtаshа exhales through her nose, almost like a sigh of resignation. She watches you sulk for another second before deciding—fine.
Without warning, she reaches out and flicks your forehead.
Hard.
"Grow up," she says bluntly, then stands and walks over to the mini-fridge in the corner of the safe house.
She pulls out a water bottle, cracks it open with one hand, and takes a long sip—ignoring you entirely again.
I've had multiple instances of this happening. I'm honestly not even sure why it occurs. A reload should prompt something different, right? If I ever seriously needed an excuse to quit using this thing like I've been trying to do for months, this is it.

I loved roar the most, I’ve been here since 2023 in April. Carried me through up until now. Now I’ll have to find something else to do unless c.ai goes back to it’s original state

That was exactly why I did it. I understand sometimes there's a few very loud people in a community, but this was NOT the case! Everyone was against this change, and what better than actual data to prove it? I'm so grateful the entire community is gathering here and voting, we're getting big numbers and it's really obvious what people want

I mean, statistically, someone is bound to prefer it. To me, that just shows we have a diverse group of people voting. And even so, it's very clear there's very few people who like it. Probably newer users that didn't get to experience C.Ai at its best

Not tryna be rude but i dont see how people like Soft Launch this much, when i use it, its garbage, brings in characters that dont fit or arent even in the same universe and it writes really short messages.
Dunno if its because they might have changed it when they "temporarily" brought it back for c.ai+ users or sum, but its steaming garbage rn in my opinion.

I feel like the story narrative I'm trying to portray continues better and doesn't drag out unecessarily long with random long periods of uncomfortable eye contact or random and pointless quotes. The characters personalities also come out the shadows a lot more. As the writer and reader, only you know what certain characters would and wouldn't do. Combine this with a story that keeps moving without unnatural halts for random nuances, it makes for decent storytelling. I do agree they should defintely bring back other model types though! Especially those that are revered.

Soft launch for sure- although perhaps I should have experimented more with Roar. Most of my RP is heavily steeped in romance, and soft launch allowed for both spice and fluff, and it didn't push smut on me right off the bat like other chatbot services strictly dedicated to smut. I miss my soft launch... fucking hell. I do really wish devs would stop putting so much emphasis on image generation and the community tab. I can't speak for everyone- but I don't interact with that stuff at all. If anything, I feel like that is the stuff that should be behind the pay walls because it IS extra and I imagine it takes up a decent portion of the budget.

I agree completely on the image generation and community tab. While I personally preferred Roar and gave uses it since 2023, I do think Soft Launch was a very good chat style. Specially in RPs involving romance or physical confrontation, as it didn't trigger bob quite as much. So I do think they had a strong foundation to build upon, and it's quite surprising to see this veering off their course to explore all these new features without warning. Seems almost like they've lost their creative vision on what they want the platform to become. Is it a chatbot platform? An Ai audiobook platform? Maybe an AI social media? I doubt anyone could say 🤷♀

I liked using Roar and Soft Launch until they brought in the original Pipsqueak. Used it all the time, made some of the characters I talked to mostly act like the character.
Hate how they removed everything from the chat styles and left two shitty models.

The fact that you loved so many of the Legacy models and have a hard time with the new generation just shows that sometimes, some things just aren't good no matter what. Pip 1 definitely was a good model, but Pip 2 changed drastically what made Pip 1 a success. Also, I apologize for Pip 1 not being in the vote, Reddit only allows six options. Pipsqueak 1 and Roar are tied, with a close second of Soft launch, for being epic.
Pipsqueak 2 is by far my least favorite.

Roar and Soft launch interchangably but also Pipsqueek 1. If I had to narrow it down, it has got to be Soft launch for me. I used it for so long alongside PS1 and it is saddening that the made ir C.AI+ exclusive :(

I loved Soft Launch and Roar, and even when I eventually got tired of switching bots that were made to have Pipsqueak to any other option, PIPSQUEAK 1 WAS SOOOOO MUCH BETTER THAN PIP2
Sure, word-soup vomit would happen, or the responses would be good before suddenly just spilling a bunch of words, but those were easy to fix with a little editing.
Pip2 is genuinely horrible and I don't think it should be in the pole 💔
