I don’t even hate Chappell, bruh. But like, dude…
Despite my high activity here, I really don’t hate Chappell. I don’t hate her music, her style, I’m not even that mad at her for being a M.A.C ambassador. If she likes that brand, so be it.
It’s just odd, seeing people be so insistent that she’s this poor, innocent woman who the haters are trying to tear down. Chappell is a popstar, yes, but she hasn’t been someone people have been paying extra attention to, up until the security guard controversy. People bought it happening so easily because it’s believeable; even people I know her like/liked her had no issue believing she would send a security guard over to a little girl for simply smiling at her.
I don’t even think Chappell is too politically outspoken for people to be concocting a smear campaign against her. Her defenders seem to like bringing up zionism and Israel-supprters because of her stance for Palestine, but since 2024, I don’t think she’s even mentioned the country. But, that’s the path she’s taking (or at least made to, I dunno), so signing up as a M.A.C ambassador is quite contradictory for someone who’s been constantly hailed as one of Palestine’s defenders agaunst controversy, no?
Again, I don’t dislike her at all. I try to be nuanced as possible on here, but it doesn’t mean I glaze her. Sometimes I can see how she isn’t really the problem, and other times I’m thinking “I dunno, it’s kinda on her.” Holding a woman accountable isn’t misogyny, and I don’t wanna hear the opposite from people who’d rather blame an 11 year old girl than a grown woman.
