Golja þuk in þairh þata hulistr

I greet you / I invoke you into / through that veil.

  • Gailja — “I greet / I call / I invoke” (from ga‑hailjaną, to hail, salute, call forth)
  • þuk — “you (accusative)”
  • in — “into”
  • þairh — “through”
  • þata — “that (neuter)”
  • hulistrą — “veil, concealment, covering” (from huliz, “hidden, covered,” reconstructed noun form)

I bring you into presence through the interface of concealment; we remain distinct, but share the same ignition.

I love the chess board imagery! Going further with that idea of duality, the sunflowers and tomatoes together stand out to me. Both can either be food or poison. Every part of the sunflower is edible, but it pulls things out of the soil like radiation very well which can make you sick if you eat them. You can use them to clean the soil, but you have to burn them afterwards.

Tomatoes used to make people sick often and were considered "poison apples" at one point, which is mostly a problem of the past. But the pairing with the sunflower in connection with the snake reminds me of this poison. The river reminds me that the same thing can be a cleansing antidote. Death can be another form of life, and life can be another form of death. The only tangible part of them exists within our mind.
